Bourb-none Chicken

This recipe was orginally posted in Jan 2011 What's for Dinner thread by bensmom526.

Bourb-none Chicken
(it doesn't use bourbon)

2 lbs boneless chicken breast, cut in bite-size pieces
1 -2 TBS oil ( I used half oil half sesame oil)
1 garlic cloves, crushed (powdered works too)
5 Spice Powder (or anything to season chicken with)
1/4 tsp ginger
3/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (used 1/4 tsp to make it kid friendly)
1/4 cup apple juice
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 TBS ketchup
1 TBS apple cider vinegar (white wine vinegar works too)
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup soy sauce (I prefer Light)
1TBS Corn Starch mixed with 1 TBS Cold water

Heat oil in a large skillet. Season chicken cubes w. 5 spice and cook until lightly browned remove chicken.
Add remaining ingredients, cook over medium heat stir well.
Add chicken and bring to a boil reduce heat add corn starch/water mix into pan so it can thicken and simmer for 20 minutes.
Served over white rice

*I added a little more sugar & juice we like it sweeter just taste after getting it to a boil to adjust
**Optional: Sprinkle sesame seeds (toasted or not) on top before serving
