Sweet and Sour Chicken or Pork

  • This is the recipe I use :
    1 1/2 lb. chicken or pork strips
    1 egg
    2T cornstarch
    2 T veggie oil
    1t salt
    1t soy sauce
    1 green pepper
    veggie oil
    3/4 c. flour
    3/4 c water
    2Tcornstarch
    1 t b. soda
    1 c plus 2Tsugar
    1 c. chicken broth
    3/4 c white vinegar
    1 T veggie oil
    2 t dark soy sauce
    1 clove garlic chopped
    1/4 c cornstarch
    1/4 c cold water 1 can 8 1/4 oz pineapple chunks drained 1 jar cherries
    Mix egg, 2T cornstarch , 2 T oil,1t soy saucein a bowl and place chicken or pork iin and stir cpver and refriferate for 20 min. Cut pepper in strips. Heat veggie oil Mix flour 3/4 c. water,2Tcornstarch and b. soda .Stir in meat pieces until well coated. Fry mat until brown. Heat sugar broth, viinegar 1 T veggie oil 2t soy sauce and garlic to boiling. Mix 1/4 c cornstarch and 1/4 c water stir into sauce. Cook and stir about 20 min. until thickened. Add cherries, pepper and pineapple. Heat to boiling , pour ove pork or chicken. Serve with rice. ( I use some of the pineapple juiceand cut back on the broth.)

  • I used some thick pork chops. I didn't add the cherries as I had used them in a pineapple upside down cake. This was really good. I used your suggestion of using part of the pineapple juice for the water. I am going to make this again & use chicken the next time. Thanks Joyce for posting it.
