Spaghetti and Meatball Casserole

This recipe was originally posted by cat lover in May, 2014 What's for Dinner thread.

Spaghetti and Meatball Casserole

MEATBALLS

1 lb lean ground beef
1/3 cup Italian bread crumbs
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp black coarse ground pepper
1/4 cup onion, chopped
2 tbsp dried parsley flakes
1 egg

**********************

12 oz spaghetti
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1 large egg, slightly beaten
2 tbsp dried parsley flakes
Coarse ground black pepper to taste
28 oz. pasta sauce sauce of your choice

Grease a 13 x 9" pan and set aside. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Combine all meatball ingredients and form into 1" balls. Place on a rimmed edge jelly roll pan and bake 18 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and reduce heat to 350 degrees.
Boil the pasta until just al dente. Drain and toss with olive oil.
Stir together egg, parsley, pepper, 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, 1/4 cup parmesan cheese & pepper to taste. Toss with the pasta and place in prepared dish. Top with meatballs and pasta sauce. Cover with foil and bake 35 minutes. Remove foil and top with remaining cheeses and continue to bake till cheese is melted.

cat lover..... Recipe sounds delicious. Like the idea adding an egg to the mix holds it together with all the cheeses mixed with it. Thanks for sharing this casserole.

Good morning all!!

This sounds yummy, and something that I can freeze in portions to have over the course of a few weeks with a fresh salad and some garlic bread.

Thanks for sharing. Norma
