slicing bread

Okay ladies, I'm going to bake a few loaves of bread because there ain't no money in the budget for buying any. No biggie, I've done it before. But, how do you slice it thin enough for sandwiches? Or is that something that takes practice? I'd like to slice it then freeze it so it lasts through the week instead of us eating it all at one sitting because it is SOOOO good!

Should have posted this in the how-to forum instead?

The only thing I have done to get thinner slices is to make sure the bread if fully cooled and then use a serrated knife with long pulls through the bread.

What about freezing or refrigerating it first, then run an electric knife through it?

I was thinking about freezing it first--I know chicken breast is easier to slice that way! I've never used an electric knife on bread, though. Oh well, I'll try it. I can always use more bread crumbs lol!
