I finished Lily White by Susan Isaacs. The book jacket said this story was about a female lawyer and a special, difficult case she was defending. Although this was very true, it was also the life story of the lawyer, herself. I enjoyed this "who done it" for 2/3 of the way through the book. At that point, the story took an unexpected turn, and I stayed up all night reading it because I could not put it down.
I won't tell outcomes of this highly enjoyable book, but I absolutely do recommend it.

I jumped ahead to the June 2014 Book Club assignment and read a historical novel focused on the 4 days of fighting at Gettysburg, The Killer Angels. It was a Pulitzer Prize winner and the author (Michael Shaara) is now deceased. I believe one or more movies was made of the trilogy so maybe the titles will be familiar.

Gods and Generals: focus on the battles that led up to Gettysburg.
The Killer Angels: focus on four days of fighting in Gettysburg.
The Last Full Measure: focus on the battles after Gettysburg through Appomatox.

Historical non-fiction can be dry, but Michael and Jeff Shaara have done an excellent job here of taking non-fiction and weaving in the characters of the fighters (from privates to the top) and making the story come alive. Here is a link to Jeff's homepage: Jeff Shaara Bestselling Author of War Novels . You may enjoy reading his other books about the civil war, some in the west, some the Mexican War, etc.
