I read "The Purrfect Murder" by Rita Mae Brown.
Here is a short summary from Booklist about the book.
Harry Haristeen and her cotererie of feline friends (including the indomitable Mrs. Murphy) springing into action after a local socialite is murdered at a fund-raiser, and Harry’s friend, Tazio, is found standing over the body, knife in hand. Of course, Harry sets out to clear Tazio and gets herself into the usual pack of trouble before being helped out by the furry bunch.
This book is was what I call a cozy mystery and "purrfect" reading for a summer day.

To the Dewey the Library Cat reader-- I live 40 miles from Spencer, IA. Even though I never visited the Spencer Library while Dewey lived there, enjoyed reading Dewey's story also.

My second book was by Rita Mae Brown and was called The Great Cat Nap.

Here is my summary. Harry Haristeen finds a man murdered at the Renu auto repair shop where Safe and Sound insurance always recommends people take their cars after an accident because they give the best rates. Harry is good friends with Cooper, the police deputy and spends a lot of her time trying to figure out who murdered Walt and later another man. Harry takes her three animals just about everywhere with her. There is Mrs. Murphy, a tiger cat who seems the most sensible. Then Pewter, who is an overweight gray cat and somewhat obnoxious. Then there is Tucker, who is a dog. The animals talk among themselves about what Harry is doing and sometimes fight too. They actually discover another dead body propped up against a grave stone and get Tucker to alert Harry about it. There are also some questionable road accidents connected with cars that have been repaired at Renu. When Harry is not working on her farm she is trying to figure out who the murderer is and what motivated them.

Joy, I'm surprised that we both read books by the same author this month.

I think that I mentioned earlier that I read Dewey, The Library Cat last year and enjoyed it, especially because it was a true story and about two of my favorite things -a cat and a library.

Has the theme for July been decided yet?
