Color Hunt

Choose a color and watch out the window for object of that color. When you see that color, have the child yell out "I see an orange ___". Try to find 10 things before changing colors. If you have more than one child, you can either give each child their own color or have them see who find the most of a certain color first.

Yellow Car/Red Car

Basically same as above, but you select a color and look for that color car. When you see the car, you have the child yell out " (color) Car". Then you can select a new color to find. Also, you can pick a color that you like (each person has to have a different color). Count the amount of cars, trucks or van you see in your color, the first one to reach 50 or 100 wins.

ABC Hunt

Watch out the windows for signs, billboards, stores, etc. Have the child yell out the letters they find as you pass the signs, etc.. Start with 'A' then go down the alphabet.

Number Hunt

Same as ABC hunt but use numbers

Travel Scavenger Hunt

This is a good game for a long drive., Give the child a list of items to watch for while driving. The lit can be made up a head of time and adjusted for the scenery.

Here are a few hunt Examples:

flashing red light
signs in foreign languages
food store
railroad tracks
billboard with a child on it

flashing traffic light
food store
someone on a bike
flower garden or snowman (depends on the weather)
pickup truck

railroad tracks
post office
pond or lake
dirt road
gas station

tall building
lake or pond
red car
stop signs
someone wearing a hat

Those are great ideas, Shawn!

We do the ABC game already, and we also have a print out listing all 50 states plus the word Foreign. As the kids see license plates from other states, they make tally marks in the appropriate box. (Whatever state we're in at the time is not counted until we leave that state.)
