Question About Graduate Schools

I have been accepted into 2 different graduate programs, one at Abilene Christian University and the other at UTPB in Odessa. I am not sure which one I should accept and I am needing advice about what questions I should ask of the school or my advisor which would help me ultimately make my decision.

My first thought is that Odessa is 2.5 hours away from my DH. ACU is 4 hours away. I have NO family in Abilene and I don't know my way around there. ACU is more expensive because it is a private school.

I contacted a graduate student that I know here at my current school to get his opinion since he used to be a clinical psychologist and he and his wife went to schools in Texas.

He suggested that I contact some of the professors and ask where the students go once they complete the program for which I am applying. He said that if the students either go on to work on their PhDs or the get high-quality jobs, that is a good sign. He said to be concerned if their graduates are not finding jobs or are only finding jobs in that area.

My main advice is this: I am venturing in an area that is extrememly infamiliar to me. I have to make a decision to the schools soon. I am not sure whether or not I will receive an assistantship at UTPB to pay for my tuition and books and ABU said that they would know by next week, but I would probably get one.

What questions should I be preparing so that I am ready to ask them when I talk to these people at these schools? What do I need to know about and find out about so that I can make an educated decision about school?

Any ideas and advice is greatly appreciated!
