School Bus Safety Too

Speaking of School Bus Safety..

Here's a problem of another sort..

A note came home from both my daughter's schools yesterday telling of an "incident" of a suspicious van approaching children at a bus stop near my home.

There have been reports of this "van" all throughout the area over the past two weeks.. but we can't seem to get any solid information.

We hear all kinds of rumors, but can't seem to get any facts.. the police won't tell you anything over the phone, and I can't understand why?!

It's very frustrating. I'm worried about my 13 yr old especially who gets the bus blocks away from the house.. so I am driving her and her friends to school in the morning, and picking them up in the evening. My 9 yr old gets the bus right on the corner, two houses away from my front door. They are always in our eye sight, coming and going.

How scary is this?... It's a parent's worst nightmare...

Maybe the police can't comment because it's an "ongoing investigation?" They have wacky rules about this....

Have you gone to the school district and asked to know what's being done to keep the kids safe? Maybe you can get more specific info there. Although they might not want to give specifics about the vehicle because it would give a false sense of security...."Well, someone came up to us in a WHITE van, but we were told that the bad people were in a RED van..." If they don't give out the information, then they can more easily determine whether a child has actually been approached or is just parroting info to get attention. Not like that helps the parents who are scared about having to have their kids at a bus stop a few blocks from home! Your DD is lucky that she has you around to bring her to the bus.

Good luck! I hope they catch the creeps who are terrorizing your community.
