I turned 30 kicking and screaming, I hated it, done some really crazy things But I loved turning 40, I guess I was ready for that change, I will be 44 in Feb. I havent really thought too much about turning 50. My dh really took 40 hard, believe me he has earned going through the change with me

I have 40 coming up this summer

I'm kind of ambivalent about it. I am proud of each & every gray hair & wrinkle I have, since I feel I have come by them honorably but getting over the hurdle of "another decade" is kind of scary. Can't figure why.

I'd like to treat it as just another birthday. But DH wants to make a big deal, and I know there will be much teasing & stuff about my age....I don't like being the center of attention, and I don't want to spend a whole day being reminded of my age--even if I DO get my chance for revenge the following year when DH has his 40th

He doesn't understand why I want to just let it go by....sigh....

It's funny. I thought 30 was hard, not because of the age but because I had no real goals set. In my 20's I hoped to get married and start a family. Hopefully find a house and settle down. Turning 30 was a clean slate of years. But I got over it. Now next February I will be 40. I told my dh that I either want a big party (my best friend will be 40 the week after me) with my friends or send me to an island by myself for a weekend. Not sure what I will be getting.

So for now I tell people I am 39 for the first time.

age is a number, we can age old or young no matter what our age is.
I'll be turning the big 60 on my upcoming birthday, and it doesn't bother me at all, so far. LOL.
I was planning on having a big 40 birthday party, but was depressed about some things that was going on in my life at the time, not because I was turning 40, and was not in a party mood.
Then I was going to do a big 50, but husband was in bad health, and situations kept us from doing it.
Im just hoping I will be in good health to feel like celebrating my big 60..

Actually my 25th was a little depressing because the people I worked with at the time kept telling me that I was a quarter of a century old then. Otherwise I enjoy my birthdays and the older I get the closer I will be to retirement, which I am looking forward to. I will be 58 next week. My husband used to get depressed every birthday he had but has started enjoying them the last few years. He turned 64 last week.

I think I dread the thought of my 80th birthday in a couple of years. Sounds more older being in your 80s and wondering how many years you have left to do what you haven't. Hubby is older so know things will be changing for us.
Other wise still try to do all I can for my family while I still can and enjoy life as it comes.

I have never been bothered by my birthday's. My high school class is having a 50th birthday party in 2 years. We thought it would be fun to celebrate 50 together :-)
