Oh gosh!! I was born in Detroit but until
Gina Steven & I went to MI to take Adam his pug
I had never in all the yrs been back to MI let alone
Detroit. The hosp I was born in is still there.
Stayed there 8 weeks and went to Birmingham,AL
where Mom's Dad lived. We lived between there
and Savannah, GA until Dad was away in the war
Mom, Butch & I stayed with Grand Daddy
then we
went to Japan after the war for 3 yrs loved it then back
to AL till friend of parents called Dad to go up to NJ
for a job which we did. Dad did well with welding
there in small town in Jersey called Bordentown
which I love stayed there off and on with parents
and my Dad's Mom in S C. Finished school married
1st time and went to FL with hubby lived between
Miami, Miami Springs and Hialeah till '58 then to SC
again with hubby in boot camp again. I met him
when he had just gotten back from Korea but
he got out UGH!! so took me that long to talk him
into going back in. We went to diff posts including
tour in Germany which I loved too we were there for
3 yrs. then back to Ft Campbell KY/TN then to post
in GA then here and that was mid July of '68 and
been in this area since then

I grew up in a small town in Maine but moved to NH when I got married. I lived in NH for 28 years and just recently, due to divorce, moved back not only to my hometown but to the same house I grew up in. It is so strange to be living back here but especially to be living back in this house. It has been empty for 6 years but I still remember where my parents had all the furniture placed etc. I am doing things differently to make the house "my own" at least for now. At some point my brothers and I will sell this place but for now it is home again,

I've already posted but neglected to mention moving to NC was such a culture shock for my family.. we lived in the bustling city of Fort Lauderdale where shopping and fast food was a call away, or at least not far to drive to anything we could want. Now we live in the country where we have no fast food (pizza) delivery; shopping is 30 minutes away or the next county. We live where my Dad's family has lived for years-in the same area-but everyone kind of sticks to themselves so it's kind of lonely-especially for my dh-he's move back to FL in a shot, if only to find people who like some of the same things he likes; otherwise he likes living here too.
But, it's getting busier here around us.. we're getting more gang activity (which is one reason I was happy to leave S. FL)at least it hasn't reached out to where we are, it's staying in the cities and counties around us.. but I'm not blind to the fact that there are probably gang members or want-a-be's in the local schools.
While we are here I'm trying to put together a family genealogy that my kids can be proud of.. mainly need to organize it now; as well as trying to find dh's birth family so I can add them to the tree too..

My home, now... is still the home that it was way back when... a small British Columbia community. I wouldn't change that for the world. Small-town living is relaxing, safe, secure, friendly, and there is very little hustle/bustle, making for a relatively stress-free environment.

Everything/anything is but a 5-10 minute's drive away, and we're surrounded by world-class recreation all around.

Here is a snap taken (early last Fall) from our back doorstep. I call it heaven.

That's just it, Pag36, in order to embrace and be content as to where one chooses to set their roots, one has to be happy.

I am very content in this house it is
a rancher and laid out just like the one hubby
& I had. Plus my wonderful son in law Kent
bought it to put Judy & I in and they are across
the street. So makes it all the better being
here and love my porch too. Quiet street and
the neighbors close to me are very nice so
nothing to be unhappy about

Love the picture. Mountains are beautiful, and some reaches so high into the beautiful sky.
thanks for sharing.
the mountain that is the hightest in our state is the Guadalupe Peak elevation of 8,751 feet (2,667 m)highest mountain located in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Way far from me.
it is located in far western part of Texas, 110 miles east of El Paso and 55 miles southwest of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Only been there once but it was beautiful.

Here is the picture of it.
