When mum gave birth to my twin sister and me she wanted names that could not be shirtened. Thus we are Lynne Maree (me) and Joy Suzanne. When we were at high school one friend called us Minny and Jo-Jo!! - go figure! But I have acquired a few nick-names along the way Lynney is a particular one - I HATE it but usually pout up with it. One aunt still calls me Lindy-Lou. My most amazing nick-name comes from my young sis megrayau. Lynney-pinney-possum-pooh!!! Not used much any more since the day my dn,about 3 yrs at the time, couldn't find me in a deartment store, so called aunty lynney-pinney-possum-pooh." When I didn't answer straight away she yelled "Pooh! I'm calling you!!" DS and I collapsed laughing and decided there was a time and a place for such names!!

My maternal grandmother refused to let my mom name me (i would have been named Sunshine)

I tell people I don't know, I was named after the plantation from gone w/ the wind (Tara)

but really...

My grandparents live in Tara Subdivision, on Tara Blvd, across from Tara High School, in Baton Rouge, LA...

I took my DH by there a couple of years ago when we went home to visit my family. I think he thought I made it up or something.. silly man

My parents didn't have a name picked out for me because they were just sure I'd be a boy. They had to look in a baby name book to find Melinda Jean! My older sister was going to be Robert Anthony, but when she ended up being a girl they named her Robin Anne. My girls are both named after family members. My oldest, Abigale Rose, is named after two of my aunts (Gayle & Rosy) and my younger, Victoria Nicole, is named for my oldest nephew Nicholas. They like that they are named after family members.

My first name is Cynthia and I go by Cyndi. I was supposed to be Steven Lamar but I was a girl! Surprise!!!

My name is Della. I asked my mother why they named me that and she said they were just looking for something different.
As a child, I hated it. All the kids were always singing..."what did Delaware..."....
As I got older, though, I liked being different!
I used to work for an attorney and he kept trying to get me to marry someone named Street so he would have Della Street for a secretary, like Perry Mason (i think it was him)!

My name is Joyce Elaine, I was named after my mom's two best friends that were sisters. Joyce and Elaiah. She didn't like Elaiah and changed it to Elaine. My aunt called me Joy cause I was a Joy to her life.

I was named Pamela Latrelle and I hated my first name when I was young-but everyone called me Pam so that was OK. Don't know why Mom decided to name me that. In 10th grade I decided I liked Pamela after taking French and hearing the teacher say it French like. My aunt told me that Latrelle is French but I still don't know how they came up with it.
On the other hand, my dd#1 is Danielle Shannon-Danielle after a cousin named Daniela(German) and since I'm half Irish I wanted an Irish name also. dd#2 is Arika Megan-middle name same as the first, first name is after Erica Caine on All My Children, we just changed the spelling. dd#3 is Lindsay Elizabeth-this was my first choice, but I had changed it to Cassandra Gabrielle until she was born-I thought she was too small for that name and wanted to go with Lindsay Rose, but dh doesn't like Rose so I said-fine! she's Lindsay Elizabeth and I don't really like Elizabeth.

My name is Theresa Marie Anne well at least I thought Marie Anne were my middle names,go figure they weren't.So my real name is Theresa Mary Ann,strange that I have always used the other middle names and no one told me they weren't Marie Anne.But discovered this looking at my Baptismal Certificate,I was baptized Theresa Mary Ann,wonder why my parents never told me?

I was named after my older sister,Deborah Teresa,though mine has a H in it,and after an aunt who was a nun,Teresa,okay where did the H come into all this,not a clue.

I would have liked another name than Theresa,it is soooooo boring.Lol.
