Sage and Cheese Biscuits

1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp ground sage
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp margarine
1/4 cup plus 2 tbsp evaporated skim milk
2 tbsp (1/2 oz) shredded reduced fat Monterey Jack cheese
1 1/2 tsp all purpose flour

Combine first six ingredients in a large bowl and cut in margarine with a pastry blender till mixture looks like coarse meal. Add milk and cheese and stir just till dry ingredients are moistened. Sprinkle 1 1/2 tsp flour evenly over the work surface. Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead 10 to 12 times. Roll dough to 1/2" thickness and cut into rounds using a 2" cutter. Put rounds onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake at 450 degrees 8 to 10 minutes or till golden brown. makes 8 biscuits
