Holiday reading basket

I've created a holiday reading basket for our house in hopes of keeping the interests of reading "other" materials besides the required school materials.

I have a very large wicker basket that I've decorated with fall leaves and flowers--I'm in the process of filling it with books from our bookshelf that are about fall, apples, camping, school...etc. I'll include some fun recipes that I've found online or in magazines. I'm hoping that my Dh will find some interesting articles in the magazines and newspapers that he reads, too. We'll also add to the basket with books from the library. The basket will include books that both of my kids can read (or help to read in my 5 yr old's case). I want to have family time reading, too--not sure how open my son will be to this but we'll see.

I'll move on to Halloween, then Thanksgiving, Christmas...etc.

I'll try to keep this thread updated on how it's going and what we've been reading.

If you and you're kids are reading books like this, please jump in a let us know what you're reading!

Thanks!
Tami
