chuckle MMMM!!! Soft Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

This is my MIL's recipe and they are sooo good !! Very easy to make too. Bet ya cant eat just one !! My son and I made them for Dad for Valentines Day. Theyre his favorite. Hope you enjoy them !

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

1/2c. sour milk ( 1/2c. milk & 1 Ĺ tsp. Vinegar)
2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. Vanilla
Ĺ tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Baking Soda
2 c. Raisins
4 c. Flour
5 c. Rolled Oats

Cover raisin with boiling water- let sit to soften- drain well

Blend shortening & sugar. Add eggs- one at a time. Add vanilla & salt. Mix well. Add raisins to dry mix. Dissolve soda in milk. Add flour alternatively with milk. Add rolled oats.

Bake at 375* for 12-15 minutes (until light brown). Drop by good size tablespoon ( donít roll into balls)

I double raisins for this recipe This makes a lot of cookies

My oven tends to bake hot so I usually bake them at 350* for about 13-14 min.--just until light brown. They might look like theyre still mushy inside but they should firm up as they cool.

You cant screw this recipe up, believe me......I have mixed these together in every order and they still turn out great. If your family likes iced cookies, I take a can of vanilla icing and nuke it to make it kinda runny....then pour over them. These freeze very well too.
