Hi Sharon -

He can eat and speak normally. There is a "wee" bit of a change in his speech but nothing that required speech therapy. Your son may need that but I surely dont know since a) not a doc and b) dont know the extent of his tongue reconstruction. My FIL did not have his tongue reconstructed so that may be a big difference. The lymph node removal made a change in the appearance of his neck on one side, but since the surgery he has gained quite a bit of weight, so that is really no longer noticeable.

He did quit smoking almost on the spot of detection and this August 1st its been 6 years.

I will keep him and your family in my prayers.

Jodi
