Personalized Nameplate

February 12th, 2013 posted by Amanda Formaro

This nameplate is a great addition to a little girl’s bedroom shelf or dresser top. Dress up some scrap wood in her favorite color and she’ll love you for it!

What you need

blocks or small scraps of wood, 1 for each letter of the child’s name

Purchased wooden letters that spell out your child’s name

acrylic paint in purple and white

paintbrush

colorful flower or heart shaped stickers

white craft glue clear

acrylic spray, matte finish //

If you make this project

we’d love to see it! Just send your photos and comments to the editor and it may get published on our Facebook fan page !

What you do

Paint the wood purple, allow to dry and apply a second coat. Set aside to dry. Paint each wooden letter white, apply a second coat if needed. Allow to dry. Glue the wooden blocks together, side by side. Stand them up to be sure they are even and will line up correctly in a standing position. Glue each letter onto the blocks, one letter per block. Depending on the size of the blocks used, you may need to stagger the letters as we did (see photo). Allow the glue to dry for about 30 minutes. Carefully position flower or heart stickers onto various areas on the blocks and on the letters themselves. If stickers overlap edges, simply fold them over the edge of the letter, but be sure that they stick! Finish with a coat of acrylic spray sealer. Display on child’s dresser top, nightstand, or shelf.
