Keeping Children Safe From Dog Bites
If you go outside on any warm afternoon, you'll probably
hear kids playing and dogs barking. They often play side
by side, but sometimes there can be problems.
To avoid these problems, tell your children to stay away
from dogs they don't know. If they see a strange dog in the
neighborhood, they should tell an adult. Children should
also play with dogs only under adult supervision.
Teach your kids not to tease an animal or scare it. Tell
them not to stare into a dog's eyes as dogs interpret this
behavior as aggression. They shouldn't run near dogs when
playing. Running can prompt a dog to start chasing.
Have the kids stay away from a dog when it is eating or
caring for puppies.
