Dear Mommy, Dear Daddy

When I had my first child, I could have benefited from a book like this. Author Marie Foss Hafen has taken the viewpoint of children and formed it into simple words that parents can understand. Words from your children's hearts.

Parenting is one of the most difficult responsibilities on Earth, and one of the most rewarding. New parents, especially, can become overstressed and find themselves looking for ways to cope with the anxieties of being a child's sole caretaker.

Within the pages of "Dear Mommy, Dear Daddy" you will find adorable drawings, sweet and harmonious words, and comforting phrases. This book allows you to sit down and look through your child's eyes and see how our reactions affect them.

This book would make a wonderful gift for any parent, but especially for those having their first child. It's an instruction manual of sorts, one that will put things into perspective when things get difficult and seem unbearable. This book continuously thanks you for doing the job that you do, being a Mommy and a Daddy.

This book is currently being used by United Way Success by Six, Head Start, Teen Pregnancy & Domestic Violence classes, and in many parenting classes in the Chicago schools.

An Excerpt

"Stop! Before you lose control and hurt me badly...

1. Quickly go to another room.
2. Step outside and think -- calm down your anger.
3. Call a relative.
4. Call a friend or church leader.
5. Last resort -- call 911.

Don't damage me! Going TOO FAR means the punishment is too cruel (too mean) for the problem."

Amanda Formaro is the entrepreneurial mother of four children. She and her husband live in southern Nevada. She is also the owner of familycorner.com magazine at http://familycorner.com
