Cookbook Review: The 250 Best Cookie Recipes
September 19th, 2013 posted by Cindy Rowe
I was sent a copy of The 250 Best Cookie Recipes cookbook by Ester Brody to review. First of all, the cover makes you want to open it up and find that recipe. When I receive a new cookbook, I am tempted to go straight to the index to see what catches my eye. But, with this one, my eye is drawn to the front part of the book: Tips for Making Perfect Cookies. Who doesn’t want to make perfect cookies? I love these simple tips; even learned a few new tips, too. This cookbook also features a Cookie Troubleshooting section—so you know how to fix the problem when your cookie doesn’t turn out as expected.
The cookbook is sorted into different sections or chapters, depending on the type of cookie it is: drop cookies, hand-shaped cookies, cut cookies, etc. At the beginning of each section, there is an index of recipes included and also a brief description of the cookie type. This makes it easy to browse through and find your next perfect cookie! Going through the cookbook, you will find simple instructions and special hints for certain cookies. I love the chapter that is titled Esther’s Favorites. It’s a tribute to her family and friends. You know those recipes have to be good!
The pictures are mouth-watering, too! The first cookie I can’t wait to make is The Refrigerator Cookie. I love the variations provided. I’m certain this will be a hit with my family. And, when I get in an adventurous mood, I will try the Delicate Lace Baskets. My family will feel like royalty when served those for dessert.
I’m thrilled I received this cookbook—perfect timing for the upcoming holiday baking season! If you enjoy baking cookies, I urge you to go out and grab this cookbook!
