Work at Home
Check out these work at home opportunities:
Santa Letters
There’s an incredibly rewarding business you can start at home -- today. You can decide if you want to run it only during the Christmas Holidays or if you do it throughout the year with letters from the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy and The Great Pumpkin just to name a few. Imagine the excitement on a child’s face when they first get something in the mail addressed just to them? Kids LOVE mail.
Baby Sign Language
What if your little toddler, who wasn’t talking yet, told you he was thirsty and would like some juice? Believe it or not, this CAN happen and is happening around the country. Teaching sign language to hearing babies is getting more and more media attention. Because of this there is a need for instructors who can teach parents this new form of communication.

Baby Chatterbox
Award-winning Baby Chatterbox is unlike any other product in the growing children’s video/DVD market. Created by a team of speech language professionals, teachers and parents, the video (Volume One: Developing Early Speech) combines eye-catching color, movement and, for the first time, extreme close-ups of a narrator’s mouth as she forms words, to help teach children, from infants to 3 year-olds, how to speak.
"Showing close-ups of the mouth is highly effective in teaching young children to speak," says Don Stewart, president of Baby Chatterbox. "This actually shows how a word is formed. The narrator then repeats the word, as the camera’s focus remains on the mouth, to reinforce the lesson. It is widely known among speech professionals that this is an important way to help baby learn language. Baby Chatterbox is the only video/DVD that provides this up-close experience."

WeeSing Together
In 1985, before the days of high-tech toys, frenetic computer games and 24-hour cartoon channels, a most innovative video series was introduced to the delight of children and their parents and teachers. Created to capture a child’s vivid imagination, Wee Sing was the first line of full-hour music videos for kids, ages 1-8, filled with classic songs they could sing with, move to and learn from. Colorful puppets and wildly costumed characters joined each story’s young heroes as they journeyed to magical, eye-popping lands to have fantastic adventures and learn a thing or two about growing up. And now, after many years and countless requests, these unforgettable, award-winning Wee Sing musicals are returning in a new format, DVDs, for a new generation.
It was in 1977 that two former elementary school music teachers from the Northwest, Pam Beall and Susan Nipp, first recognized that traditional children’s songs were disappearing, being passed verbally and vocally down through generations, but rarely written down. The two friends, who were now teaching musical workshops for parents and teachers, set out to relocate those songs and compile them into songbooks for their classes. When demand for the books became significant, Beall and Nipp realized just how important it was to restore this music to the community. When a publishing company started distributing the songbooks, their reach became national and a small but mighty industry was born. Soon after came audiocassettes followed by the Wee Sing videos - then, and now, the only original full-hour live action children’s musical videos.

Read Right!
READ RIGHT! COACHING YOUR CHILD TO EXCELLENCE IN READING (Mid-August 2005; McGraw-Hill; $16.95), by reading expert Dee Tadlock, Ph.D., is the first book of its kind to suggest that 150-year-old assumptions about reading are the reason that 1 in 5 children continue to develop significant reading problems. Supported by 25 years of research they show that children, parents, and teachers are not to blame. The continuing epidemic of reading problems can be directly tied to incorrect assumptions about what the brain does when it reads and what the brain requires to produce excellence.
Rather than simply suggest that parents "read to their children" to improve the likelihood that they will become readers, Read Right! provides an extensive array of easy-to-apply techniques designed to help parents and educators foster excellence and appropriate reading development in children. Included are:
- Simple step-by-step coaching techniques to use with children
- A list of age-appropriate reading materials suitable to early reading development
- How to spot and address the real barriers to reading development
- And much more..

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep CD
Listening to some of the music written, produced and packaged for children these days, gives the impression that adults must think children are stupid. There are some wonderful exceptions out there, but they are few and far between. Did all of the musicians who didn't have what it takes to make it in the mainstream industry decided to go into children's music? If so, that could explain the inane, homogenized music that people produce for kids to listen to that also drives new parents to ban all things purple from their homes! So, when Verdict Records got involved in the children's music business they decided that kids weren't stupid and neither were parents.
Verdict has now produced two albums for infants and toddlers. "Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep: An Album of Classical Lullabies" and "Hangin' Out With My Baby" will be released nationally on October 11th, 2005 through Sumthing Distribution out of New York. "Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep: An Album of Classical Lullabies" is a selection of Classical Lullabies written by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Schumann and other composers beautifully arranged for guitar and violin and played by Eric and Susan Davis. Parents will be thrilled to find this combination of classical music that we know stimulates a child's brain cloaked in entrancing melodies that soothe a child to sleep.
