Hop Right To It: Frog Scrapbook Border
by Debbie Knechtel

Click here for a larger view
Spring is almost here! Photo opportunities are abounding, and it's time to capture those memories in your scrapbook. Make this whimsical frog border to highlight your hike down to the pond, trip to the zoo or for that chaotic moment when little Jimmy let his pet frog loose in his sister's room.

What You Need:
Brown cardstock
Beige cardstock
Dark Green cardstock
Light Green cardstock
White cardstock
Black pen
Brown pen
Hole punch
Glue stick or tape runner

Optional Items:
Circle Punches
Bubble Punches
Heart Punches
12 inch Trimmer/Cutter

If you make this project we'd love to see it! Just send your photos and comments to the editor and it may get published on this page!

What You Do:

Assemble Log

  1. Cut a 12 inch strip of brown cardstock that is 1 1/2 inches wide. This will be your log.

  2. Using a hole punch or a bubble maker punch, make random cut outs along the brown strip.

  3. Cut a 12 inch strip of beige cardstock that is 1 1/2 inches wide. Using your choice of adhesive glue it to the back of the brown 12 inch strip. This will be the back of your log.

  4. Trace and cut out or (use a punch) 2 tan circles that are 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Using your brown pen draw circles starting in the centre and getting bigger till you reach the outer edge. Glue one of these to the each end of your log.

Assemble Frog

You will need to make 3 of these

  1. Cut a 1 1/2 inch circle out of dark green cardstock. This is the frogs body

  2. Cut an approx. 1 1/4 inch heart out of dark green cardstock (or use a punch). These will be the frog's feet. Glue them to the frog's body so the top of the heart is upside down.

  3. Cut an approx 1 3/4 -2 inch heart out of dark green cardstock. Cut the heart in half. Using a hole punch or bubble maker punch make random holes in each half of the heart.

  4. Cut the same size heart as step 3 out of light green cardstock. Cut this heart in half. Glue these halves to the back of your dark green heart halves. Glue 1 half to each side of the frog's body with the top of the heart up.

  5. Cut 2, approx 1/2 inch circles, from white cardstock (or use a punch). These will be the frogs eyes.

  6. Cut 1, approx 1/2 inch circle, from dark green cardstock. Cut this circle in half. Glue 1 half of the green circle to each of the white circles. Glue these circles on top of the frog's body.

  7. Using a black pen draw eyeballs on your frogs eyes and give him a cute mouth.
Now you are ready to use this on any of your 12x12 scrapbook pages. This can be altered to fit smaller pages. Of course you could make more frogs to add as embellishments on your page.....so what are you waiting for "hop right to it".
