Hey everyone...I've been making this kielbasa dish in the crockpot. DH & DS claim they don't like kielbasa (grilled etc), so I've been making this for them and the LOVE it. If you get a chance to try it, let me know if you like or LOVE it! I submitted it to Taste of Homes contest. DH just loves the sauce!
So this is what's in the crockpot now....
Whiskey Sausage
5 Lbs Kielbasa (Polish Sausage)
2 Cups Brown Sugar, packed
2 Cups Ketchup
4 Oz Whiskey
Combine sugar, ketchup and whiskey. In crock-pot, layer sausage, then
sauce, sausage, then sauce, etc.
Cook on Low overnight or 10 to 12 hours. This is great for potlucks
Last night for dinner I made beef stroganoff. Also had buttered bread slices with it. Tonight...well, it's Friday, so as usual, I have no idea!
Caronamy--
Good luck with the Taste of Home contest! I love those magazines, and your recipe sounds delicious!
Haleysgrandmom--
I'm going to have to try that Country Brunch Skillet! Funny thing is, I was trying to think of something to do with the hashbrowns I had in the refrigerator last night--too bad I didn't have your yummy recipe until I was on the computer this morning! LOL!
Haley's grandmom, I'm saving that recipe for our next "breakfast for dinner" night!
Tonight we are attending our church's Fall Festival. There will be regular "fair food" like burgers, hot dogs, pizza, cheesesteak, meatball hoagies. BUT there will also be homemade Polish food. That's what I'm in for! Just point me to the kluski and pierogi! My family helped assemble these pierogi--the church made 6,000 of them for the 2-night festival. DD is going to help run the kids' games.
Barbszy hope tonite's Festival goes well good money maker for the church. Our churches around here have them too. One will be at my neighbors church next month. Home made clam chower (not my cup of tea lol) likewise homemade Brunswick Stew now that I love especially if it is made with deer meat. Looking forward to it. Gina and I were suppose to go to pottery today but nasty out there so that is out. May bake some since kids are in school and will not be here to eat as fast as I make them. Have no idea right now what will be for dinner except I will be eating left over chili.

Thought for the Day
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream;
Not only plan, but also believe.
We had leftovers last night. Parmesan chicken with spaghetti and broccoli.
Tonight we have plans at 5:00pm to decorate the Sukkah for Sukkot and we are suppose to bring our own dinner, drinks and dessert will be provided. Dinner is at 6:00. I'm scratching my head with this one. I don't want to eat sandwiches. We may stop and buy chicken at KFC. Undecided here.
Shell
Vegetable Soup for supper tonight. Have some potato salad left in the refrigerator if DH wants some of it too.
DS #1 and his live-ins son and grandson came for the day. They hiked in the woods, and we cooked hamburgers and hot dogs over the firepit. Nice fall cool day for that.
Here is the recipe for vegetable soup I used today. I have several, but this one is good and easy to make all from canned goods. It is a good one when you unexpectedly have company drop in because I always have the ingredients in the pantry!
1 pound extra lean ground round
1 large onion, chopped
1 15 oz can sweet potatoes, cut up
3 15 oz cans whole white potatoes, cut up
2 15 oz cans mixed vegetables
2 25 oz cans diced tomatoes
1 15 oz cut green beans
1 15 oz can sliced carrots
1 15 oz can whole kernel corn
2 15 oz cans tomato sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced or pressed
4 cups water
Brown meat and rinse under hot running water when done. Put into large soup[ pot or kettle and add all other ingredients. Bring to a boil and then let simmer 1/2 hour.
