DebK, do you do a turkey dinner like we do in the USA or is that just our own tradition? Just curious
.
Barb we have basically the same traditions you have just earlier in the year. Most people have a turkey dinner with all the trimmings, pumpkin pie etc. Some will have roast chicken or ham but I would say most have Turkey. Because the weather is still so warm here it seems to early for thanksgiving!!!! We were in shorts again today!!!

Made two different kinds of fish tonight catfish & pollock. Also made zucchini squash over spaghetti sauteed in garlic & olive oil. Had a salad on the side. Peaches this time of year are so delicious.

Tonight I had a salisbury steak frozen dinner. I FINALLY finished one of my essays. I need to start my Munchansen paper, but it isn't due until the end of November, so there is no hurry. I do have to start making my study notes for mid-terms, which are a week away. So, I am making meals as easy as possible for myself. I also made guacamole so that I can have quesadillas tomorrow (Sunday).
DebK, do you make your own maple carrots? I would not make them because I LOVE carrots, but am not a big maple syrup fan. DH is a HUGE maple syrup fan. In fact, I have to order his by the gallon. Since you are from Canada, do you have access to maple syrup like the people in Vermont? Are you a maple syrup fan like my DH?
My dh and son are still asleep , so I thought I would use this time to catch up and read all the post I have missed. There are so many great recipes. I can't wait for our weather to get cooler, I love soups and stews.
For dinner tonight we will be having beef tacos with refried beans.
Tonight we're having grilled marinated chicken legs. My kids have an ongoing debate about which part is the best--the meat or the skin. (I'm on the skin side)
On the side, boiled new potatoes, and some sort of vegetable.
Today is race day!!! I've got some guacamole made. For dinner I am making chicken qusadillas. If I have some frijoles in the freezer, I might defrost them and have them with the quesadillas that I smother in the guacamole.
Boggsz~~Sure hope you are feeling better....let us know, OK?
Well, if any of you might remember---I just had to buy a new oven about 2 weeks ago. Salvaged my old one til the bitter end~~trust me. So, I got up this morning to make a cake for Sunday School and put it in the oven and it turned out so beautiful! But, then I went to turn the oven off and......nothing! Part of the control panel apparently went dead. The oven stayed on. I couldn't do anything to turn it off. And, I was running late so I didn't have time to play the "guess which circuit breaker" to turn off so I programmed it to the lowest temp it would go to and went to church. Came home, turned off the circuit breaker and called the store. They gave me a service number to call, and of course--they are closed today.
So, we changed dinner plans for tonight. Dh is grilling out steaks and we are going to have a salad on the side.
I hope everyone else is having a better night

Hi there DeBora......yes I make my own maple carrots. Maple syrup is very abundant here. And yes I love maple syrup especially on sausages or bacon. I use maple syrup in place of honey and brown sugar quite often. I just glaze my carrots in a fry pan with some butter and maple syrup. My family loves them this way. I also use maple syrup in my squash and sweet potatoes.
