What's for Dinner? - August 2005

This will be a very busy month for those of us whose children will be starting back to school this month.

Some of us will be back in the "strict" school routine while others will still be in the casual, carefree summer routine!

Regardless of what group you're in, what will you be serving for dinner/supper this HOT month???

Hello from Houston! This thread is now open!!

I REALLY blew my diet today....we had fajitas for lupper.

<SIGH> Guess I'll have to walk the treadmill for at least an hour when I get home and then at least three times a day for the next week to make up for today!!!

Well, we are getting ready to head back to Cajun Country!! Have a nice evening all!!!

Had hot dogs, baked potatoes and roasted corn on the cob over the fire last night and Smores for dessert.

Tonight I have corn cut from the cob with green peppers and onions cooking in the turbo cooker with a couple tbsp of olive oil. Going to heat up a couple of dogs left from last night and just have chips with it.

Our visitors have all gone for the day to Holiday World so probably won't be back till late tonight. Had a lot of fun with them. Friday they stayed here and hiked in the woods most of the day and went down to the caves and just enjoyed being out in the middle of no where, took naps and the kids gathered the wood and kindling for the fire to cook supper that night in the firepit. The "city kids" enjoyed all the chickens running around and the cats and dogs too. They got to see some of the wild turkeuy ,but guess it was just too noisy for them to see any deer. And we haven't had any raccoons since BB (baby beagle) showed up and decided this was her home.

Have a watermelon down in the coke machine if they are awake enough late tonight to even cut into it. I think they are leaving during the day in the morning tomorrow because they all have to be back at work on Turesday morning. Hate to see them go, but I remember all the work it was getting back from "vacation"!

Have a good evening!

Abear, I am the strict school routine kind of mom myself. Joshua starts high school on Thursday, and he has to be at the bus stop at 6:25, so this should prove to be interesting!!!

I told him that he will be getting up at 6 a.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, but starting Thursday, it will be 5:30 a.m. Hopefully he won't be too cranky, but I am not counting on that!!!!

Well I am off to get close and personal with my couch!!! LOL

Have a good night!!!

Hey, Abear, it's okay-don't we all blow it sometimes? Sometimes you just gotta get it out of your system to get back on track again! It does sound very yummy-I love guacamole, too.
Tonight for dinner, we just had leftovers. Usually the weekends are good for cleaning out the fridge here. Of course, with 2 teenage boys, there mostly isn't a lot in the fridge in the first place. lol Take care and have a nice Sunday evening, ladies!

Cut up a steak that I had defrosted yesterday. Added some eggplant, peppers & zucchini and a couple of potatoes. Tasted better than stew with a can of tomato sauce simmered in the Turbo Cooker. With DS staying for a few days been making things he likes to eat.

Yikes, Stellajean! A bus pick-up at 6:25 AM I bet Joshua will be on the bus!

Our kids don't start back until Sept. 7 and I am still waiting for my notification of the bus time. Last year they were running a big bus for only 5 kids, so I have a feeling that some re-routing may happen. That could mean my kids are on the bus for a longer time. I refuse to put my kids on a school bus before 7:20 in the morning when school starts at 7:55 and it's only 2 1/2 miles from here. I almost wish the town would just cancel the bus, because then they would have to pay us a "transportation allowance." That would be cool.

Tonight's dinner is pork chops.
