I just found out that I had to pay a Deposit

On my lights. This is my third bill since moving and I didn't know that. My sister had the same problem with this same company. They never send her a bill so she doesn't know what she owes and then after 8 months they told her she had to pay a deposit. JEESH! So, they are going to roll over the deposit for me until next month. I should be in the clear next month...this month is just dd's birthday so all of those extras has thrown me off.

Got to love the utility companies-(UGH!)

Leasmom - wow, that's awful that the power company doesn't send out regular bills! Do you think they send them, and they are getting lost in the mail? We've had that happen with some of our credit card bills. For awhile we were getting other peoples mail ( people in our town, but different streets). I always know that if I'm getting someone else's mail, I'm probably not getting all of mine. Good luck with your busy day!!

This company has two parts

Electricity and Gas. For my sister in C. Springs, Aquila is Gas. For me 25 minutes away, Aquila is Electric. My sister found out that they had her wrong address and zip code down. They were sending her bill to some place in Northern Colorado. I don't know if she gets her bills now, but they surprised her with a Deposit charge 8 months after she began service, just like they did me. I get my bills, just not in time, I've already paid it by the time they send it. The only companies that are here in Colorado is the Water Company, the rest are out of state.

My sister's utilities are really screwed up. She pays some bills in C. Springs, some in Fountain, Colorado, and some in out of state. She's on the border but she is still living in C. Springs. It's all screwed up where she is!

Ah yes, utilities in Colorado Springs, how well I remember. Such a big place to have such screwed up service. We had a dog when we lived there, a spaniel. She was terrific guard dog but was an inside dog when we weren't home. We never left her outside because we didn't want her to bark. Apparently the water meter reader heard her barking in doors once so decided from then on out that he/she wasn't going to go into our fenced back yard and read the meter. I let it go once but when I started coming home from work to find a note on my mailbox that WE had to read the meter and mail it in, I went ballistic. I called and told them that they didn't pay me to read it but they did have a person they paid and that they needed to get them out there to DO their job! Our dog was family and we never left her outside unless we were home. The supervisor came out that day and read the meter and we never came home to another note telling us to read it.

Jayne - when we put up our fences the power company wanted us to start reading our meter. I called them and told them there is a big gate on the driveway right in front of the meter. I told them that when you walk up to the wood fence that you can tell it's a gate. They read the meter after that.

Thanks for the info on washing. I have checked for the fel naptha & washing soda at wmart. Maybe, I'll ask an employee or check on the net. And now I know I will maybe use cold water more often, but not on everthing.
About meter readers... I can't blame them for not wanting to go into unknown dog territory, but wouldn't things be so much better if people really got to know one another again? It is a simple matter if you can just tell the guy "our dog is always inside while we're gone." or "just go thru the gate, silly." Our meter reader (we are in the country) sits in his truck & reads the meters with binoculars. Cushy job.

We may live in "hooterville" but we're very high tech here now. The power company recently installed meters (took all of 45 seconds per) that can be read from the street as the meter reader goes by with some gadget. Nice for everyone.
The meter reader had read our meter for nearly a year before there was suddenly a problem. They should get a different job if they're so lazy they can't open a gate and walk through.

Jayne - we've gone high tec too in our little town, our meter reader uses that now. Hey, I just noticed today that there's a chat button on the top of each page. Does anybody go there and chat? No one was there when I tried it.

Or in the upper right hand portion of the page you will see it with the group of buttons.
