OOOh, you've got me missing my Black Walnut tree

Do you know how to check them? If you do it right, it's not messing. You just wait until the green shell burst open and then you take out the hard walnut and place in a plastic bag, seal and use a hammer and crush it. Then you pick out the walnuts...it's alot of work, but when you're eating a quick bread or cake made out of your walnut meats, it's worth it.

The Denver Broncos is popular here...I have no ideal what the local Pueblo team is and I doubt anyone would care...I'm sure the Broncos colors would sell very well! I know in Tennessee in our part of it, Orange and White could be seen everywhere...I once had a professor call it the Creamsicle look!!!

Do you think Hobby Lobby would have some cheap beads? I was thinking some patriotic ornaments would sell easily! I had some wooden hearts that came from something I got for free. I took off the yarn that came with it and then painted them in Americana colors and put them on my tree. I wonder if Hobby Lobby would have some... That and the Bronco bracelets would yield some money!!!

$52 for gymnastics...that's cheap. When my then 3 yr old dd did it was $75! Dd is now in Cheerleading...$20 a month and then will do Soccer-$15 for the season and T-ball-$15 for the season...

Leasmom,
I guess I should consider myself lucky then, here I was thinking 52.00 was a lot! It is through our city not like Gymboree gym or anything. Maybe thats why. Right now he is in swimming and it only cost 22.00 for 6 wks. I dont want him to be in everything but I suppose one activity at a time isnt bad. My one sil never put her kids in anything always had a reason but now one is in high school and the other in 4th grade and they do nothing. I dont think thats good. Like I said I dont want "Super Kid" but I dont want him to grow up being shy and afraid to do anything!

My two younger kids are in Ballet, piano, football and cub scouts. (dd is in ballet, ds the others) I tried doing some type of music with my oldest three, 2 took piano lessons, one took violin. My 16 yr old wants to play the guitar, but I told him not until his grades are good. It looks like I'll be needing to find a teacher for him next trimester. My oldest dd always wanted to take ballet, she took a class one summer when she was little, but then we either didn't live close to a studio or didn't have the money. I'm not sure I thought it was that important then either. Kind of funny how you change. My youngest dd is such a girly girl, always dancing around the house, dressing up, etc. that I felt like I really needed to put her in dance, and my ds is such a smart little guy, he has just been doing wonderful on the piano. So, anyway, I guess I'm just saying, do what you can do, and do it. I think lessons and classes are great for kids, it teaches them self confidence and builds their talents!

chuckle Li'l Ol' Frugal Me

There is nothing in the supermarket flyers this week that compels me to shop, so THAT is frugal! We have everything we need in the freezer and pantry. Will be shopping from there...

Oh, but I may pick up some bananas for dh while out getting a new cell phone battery I ordered and some film I had developed on CD.

The CD is less expensive than prints and if we want a print or two, they are only 29¢ each or we can print them on the inkjet. Hope to see pics (if they come out) of the resident raccoon hanging off the bird/squirrel feeder and pics of the kitchen to email my folks in Maine.

Used up the old cell phone battery until it wouldn't even charge anymore!
:p

When my dd was 2 1/2

She did ballet and all they did though was blow bubbles instead of dance and it was $75 for a 20 wk session. So, I put her into Gymnastics which was $75 for a 40 wk session. Then I had to pay for her to take Tap while in preschool too age 3 and buy the shoes.

Then she was in Karate at 3 1/2 to 4 yrs old and that was about $40 a month but dd was too young and distracted. Then she didn't do anything at 4 to 5. But, then when she was 5 to 6 she did t-ball ($15 for the whole season) and had alot of talent but we couldn't get to her games because at the time we had no car. So, at 6 she did t-ball again and then t-ball here in Pueblo which was also $15.

I agree, I like to keep dd active. It gives her something to look forward too and she isn't just sitting at home watching t.v.]

Well, I went into the Dollar Store-(OOH I found a real dollar store that actually has things for a $1-can you imagine, a dollar store offering items for a dollar-LOL!!!)-but this was the Family Dollar so things were higher, but I hit their clearance section. They had two wooden shelves for $3 each and a cookie pan for $2. I am also about to load up on Pepsi, 2-liters for .67 cents at the Grocery Warehouse.

Oh, I also got a nice sized watermelon for $2. The guy originally was charging $3 but gave me $1. They had some red chilies he was trying to pawn off for $10 for the box but fruit flies were all around it. I know I'm not from here but I am pretty darn sure that's not a good sign-LOL!!!

So, off to mail off letters, pick up dd, grab up soda and maybe a quick meal...if it's on sale!

Not too frugal, but we went to Sauder Village today for their Apple Butter Makin' Days. We have a membership, so it didn't cost us anything today (it's around $75/family/year). The kids got to eat and "help make" apple butter. We also picked up some herbal tea in the Herb Shop there. We got strawberry, blueberry, and of course bubble gum (for the kids I swear! ).

Lightbulb FRUGALISHIOUS

I'm sure many of you have heard of putting onions in old nylons and tying knots between them, then cutting at the knot to remove. But......

How about instead of tying knots you use old bread ties and just give them a little twist between the onions?! This way you can use the same nylon over and over. I don't wear nylons very often and so I don't have very many "old" ones that have holes/runs in them (I'd rather wear my jeans and socks any day!)

I have been doing this for a while and didn't think of posting it until I was putting onions in my nylons.

Vjumpstart-

What a great idea with the onions and twisty ties. You all have been so busy this week, it's been hard for me to address all the great ideas that have been coming in. I'm not sure now who it was, Songberries, I think about the fanny pack for clothes drying- that is a good idea too. Can't wait to try it. It was supposed to rain here today but all it's been is cloudy- I didn't put my clothes out because it was to rain. Keep the ideas rolling in ladies.

Oh btw, Shawn- I meant to tell you I really liked those mesh bags, sure wish I could find them around here- they would be great for storing all my tupperware in.

Have a good weekend everyone and GO BUCKS! and GO BROWNS!!

Anna
