That's interesting! I thought Rivels were a PA Dutch thing!

I love pimento cheese!!! Here in Canada I grew up with that, it is a favorite of mine!!! Now I've never heard of rivals, or grits and the ladies on the supper thread had to educate me on pinto beans!!!

Hugs

Welcome littlecmom

Glad you found us and hope you'll come back often. Not much frugal to report here this evening. Made spaghetti used leftover chili from Sunday over top of it. Visited in the front yard till dark with my neighbor friends, came in and loaded a picture of my tea cup candles in the garage sale forum, took a few tries to get it the right size and getting ready to do my nightly telephone call to my mil.

Sounds like everyone is moving quite smoothly into fall mode and continuing to be frugal.

Our gas company offers insurance for waterline and gas line breakage, it's $72.00 a year.. now they are offering sewer for another $4.50 a month... can't decide whether to gamble or pay it. They say to dig up the sewer in our yard could cost up to $4000.00 so that's a scary thought. Will have to dwell on it for a day or two and talk to dh.

Our weather has been beautiful here all week, in the 80's and cool in the evenings... that part of fall I like, saving on running the ac.

Well ladies I'm off to go to the craft section and post a picture of my blue jean purses... so will catch you all tommorow.

Anna

Well the rest of my frugal things today was vacumming, giving my daughter a bath and put to bed, got my shower taken and her I am back on FC.

Cheers Becky

Anna it would take 55 years of paying $72 a year to equal the $4000. You might try to find out how often a breakage happens I'm assuming it would be from the hookup to your house when you would be responsible. We had a break several years ago, was across the street, when we came home the water was bubbling up from the street like the oil in the opening of the Beverly Hill Billies show.

The soup was good, girls. Wish you all could have come for dinner. I don't put celery in mine. But, yes, must use the canned milk, and a little butter. Maybe the rivels are Penn. Dutch, but my folks are from North Carolina and I thought it was a southern thing. Sure good, anyway. Yes, pimento cheese is one of my favorite things. Well, lots of things are my favorites, LOL.

I have figured out that cooking food and sharing food is one of my main ways of showing love for people.

Frugal also is cleaning out my pantry and using things hidden in there. I have so much stuff. I mixed up some Crystal Light tonight that was in there. I forgot I had it. I gave away a bunch of things to my daughter so she can give them to a family in need.

Maybe tomorrow will be cabbage rolls for dinner out of my 18 cent a lb. cabbage. Sounds good to me.

We got that sewer line insurance you mentioned. We think it's worth it, since every few months you see another house in our neighborhood with a backhoe in front of it having the sewer line dug up When they built these houses in 1962 they used a pipe called "orangeburg" which is basically TAR PAPER, for the sewer line. After about 30 years the weight of the ground on top of these paper pipes starts to compress them so we figure we are on borrowed time.

I found a great deal on Timex watches for kids, so I did some Christmas shopping early for the nieces and nephews! I don't usually shop this early but it will be good to get things done without having to hurry.

Welcome littlecmom.

Today is the day. We get our last permits to build the house. The meeting is tonight. And it always makes me nervous. I just cannot wait for the ground breaking. I will be there with camera in hand.

Linda Lou can you freeze cabbage rolls? I love them, but am the only one who does. But I have really wanted them since the weather turned cooler.

Unfrugal, we are making a weekend trip to Washington state. My Momma wants us to take her to see Grandchildren. So we leave Friday afternoon. When the kids get out of school.

I am going to go searching my recipes for good fall recipes. I feel the need to make up a fall menu. I fixed Chili Casserole last night. So now I am in the mood for soups and stews and casseroles.

Who made the pumpkin pudding? Can you please post the recipe? I would love to make it.

Design your own pumpkin stencil. This is so fun. You can design the stencil and then print it out . http://kraft2.promotions.com/kookyki...e=stencil.html
The kids were playing with it. I see I am going to have to get more then two pumpkins this year.LOL
