I am feeling particularly frugal and blessed! DH and I put up 18 pints of spaghetti sauce that we made from our tomatoes. It makes me feel great, just looking at the jars. We have more tomatoes ripening, so we plan to make more. I love it!
she started marking her teritory i thought only males done that
Boggsz,
Is the dog spayed?
I had a cat years ago that did that.....problem was the she wasn't spayed... just a thought.
You might keep in mind that some animals have traits/ habits that you aren't going to be able to change. I had a shelter cat that would potty in the litterbox, step out, and pee on my floor. Every time. I had to take her back to the shelter. They worked with her for a month, and figured she will always do that, and was unadoptable. I felt bad, but I couldn't allow her to tear up my house, either.

Bettdev, Thay told me she was fixed but i think ill talk her to the vet to make sure I have no idea how to tell. As long as i have her on a leash by my side she is fine and she acts like she dont mind the leash at all you can tell she has been to a groomer I was sweeping the carpet and thought that would be a good way if she had any fleas to get them off so i took the sweeper to her she loved it I have a Rainboo and it has alot of power to bad for those fleas. My frugal thing for today is just to stay home dh took dd to school his off today so im just going to clean house and not go anywhere to spend money I dont have in the first place. Have a good day all
One part of your problem Karen may be the poor dog is feeling misplaced. She no doubt misses her former family. Animals have feelings too and they love their family just like we do!
My middle dd got a Jack Russell Terrier (given to her). She is a wonderful dog but came with a history as we soon found out. The people who gave her to her said she's house broken. Well she is but not to the extent they claimed. Come to find out, she was at a fair recently and ran into the family who gave her to the other family. They in turn had gotten Jackie from a neighbor who neglected her. Poor Jackie! No wonder she acted like she was afraid to settle in. My daughter finished fencing her yard so that Jackie could roam instead of being tethered to a line when outsdide and that nearly did the poor dog in. Apparently she thought "Mom" was going to make her stay outdoors all the time the way a couple of other owners had. NO WAY> Dd put in a dog door and shoved her through a few times. Jackie was a lot happier then. Happy as she was though, she would still have "accidents" but ONLY on the days that my dd was late getting home in the mornings. (She works nights so Jackie was alone at night). Someone she works with told her that Jack Russells need companionship soooooo she got another dog. :p This time she was given a full blood co-ck-er spaniel. (She really walks into deals. LOL I actually saw the ad for Coby in the paper.) Coby is a male and will be fixed on Oct 1. He doesn't know this. He and Jackie hit it off immediately and are great buds now. Jackie is happy and doesn't have accidents anymore and Coby as it turns out is a wonderful watch dog. We figured he would be, had a spaniel for years who was very protective of the family until she died.
My point it, you will need patience and time to see if she'll settle in. The poor thing lost her "old" family and needs time to adjust to the new family and surroundings. In the meantime I feel certain that Jeannie can offer tips on how to cope and change the behavior.
Good luck!
Jayne

That is such excellant advice you gave to Boggz about the dog. Seperation anxiety can bring out the worst in dogs, that's why we have 3 to keep each other company.
It sounds like everyone is really being frugal, you all leave me in the dust!
We were hugely successful in our Buckeye necklace sale this weekend, sold every one we had. I wish we'd known about this sooner, as the squirrels are now hoarding all the nuts!!! We have branched out with the smaller nuts to make bracelets and earrings. We will be legal tommorow, dh is going to get the license. They got nervous Saturday another vendor there told them the police had been known to take your products and money, so what they had left they sold to a vendor who had a booth of OSU stuff. But next week, there will be no holding them back. dh taught me how to string them up too and I made some of my own bracelets with just the beads and stretchy string, they turned out very nice-hopefully they will sell.
My frugalness this weekend: Yesterday the store started selling Faygo soda 12 pack for .99 cents, I had coupons for .25 cents off and they doubled, so got each 12 pack for .49 cents. I bought 8 and will go back for more. We use this for Trick or Treat night, the kids love it. It's safe, they are usually thirsty so it's a good treat that their parents will allow them to have.

I’d Like To Help You Out.. Which Way Did You Come In?
My frugal thing today is to stay home with the poor Chicken Pox covered 4 yr old dd. Not so frugal as I'm missing a day of work but I knew I should stay home today, just to monitor the "spots" and make sure she doesn't run a temp or anything. It looks like a relatively mild case. My babysitter talked to the rest of the mom's of the kids she watches and they all said go ahead and take her, the kids have already been exposed. So...Alyssa will go back to the sitter tomorrow, armed with Caladryl Lotion and Aveeno oatmeal bath!!!
I picked up disgarded clothes from my friend yesterday and came out with a lot of "new" outfits for me for work, and for running around the house! She also had a bag full of hair conditioners that had been sitting in her house for months and never used, perfume rarely used, cologne for the 16 yr old ds! Other than the chicken pox, yesterday was just another wonderful day.
As I'm home today I'll be checking in often. Maybe I'll get the rest of my baby afghan finished today for a present for a girl at work??? I hope so.
So far this morning, I warmed up yesterday's coffee...(hate to throw it out, just 'cause it's cold!), made croutons out of old rye bread, and faxed off resume's.... That'll keep me from using up alot of gas!

OSI, giving soda out for trick or treat is a great idea I dont get any kids where i live so i dont have to buy candy but i never thought of giving soda ill have to tell my mother in law she has lots of trickers
Lisa have fun! My middle dd, now 26, had chiken pox when she was 4 and had them so bad that she couldn't even wear panties. I put a one piece slip on her and laid her on the couch. When she needed to potty I'd carry her in and back to the couch again. She had a terrific tolerance for pain and itch though so did great in that respect. (She had surgery to repair a blockage in her aorta 2 weeks before her 3rd birthday and never cried, even after coming out of anesthesia!)
If your dd gets too itchy, you may want to try some SARNA lotion. It's available at Wal Mart in the pharmacy. It's not a prescription but they do keep it behind the counter, maybe because it's a bit pricey. It's almost $10 for a bottle but it works fabulously. I was going through a hormonal itch problem on my arms a short while back and a friend told me aobut it. She may have saved my sanity since I had done this years ago for almost a YEAR and still can't figure out how my arms and mind survived in tact. This lotion can cool almost any itch off.
Anna when I was a kid the lady up the street from us would set up a table in her front yard on Halloween and hand out cups of soda. We LOVED her and called her "The Soda Lady" and we always made a beeline to her house. You brought back some wonderful memories!
