We're under tornado watches here in Williamson County as well for another hour I believe! I'm at work with youngest DD. She's playing on the computer. Came well prepared, brought coloring book, crayons, chips and something for her to drink. She's been pretty good here for the 3 hours we've been here. I'm just packing it in to leave. I put in 8 hours over this weekend, all for the new car downpayment. Drove by it again last night to just see what I'm working so much for. The kids are all excited, even the 17 yr ds. He told me he was proud of me. High praise from a teenage boy huh?
Went garbage picking last night, someone moved down the street and just had boxes of stuff w/ a sign that said help yourselves. Got a set of 8 tumblers (glasses) a vase, silk flowers, cancles, napkin stand that's black metal that we're using for paper plate holder, some different sized baskets (I'm a basket nut), picture frames and a trivet w/ the stones, supposed to be calming effect. Also some potpourrie (sp?) as well and that's in a basket in my bathroom of my bedroom. Also they had out in the trash an angel boy and girl for Christmas, the kind of things you plug in for the outside during the holiday season. Took those as well. All kids helped carry the stuff home, a first as they hate when I garbage pick. Meg, my 7 yr old dd, found some funky chunky heeled boots that I can't get her to take off since I disinfected them. I love to find something for nothing.
Talk to you all later. Gotta get out of here and spend some time with the rest of my younguns.
Take care and watch out for those storms everyone.

Glad to hear you are having a good birthday! That is so neat when a parent and a child share a birthday.

Originally posted by ladyIris23 Karen, I learned the hard way on oldest DS that those "swimmers" don't hold water! Of course, that's the point....but we put him into his carseat dressed for swim The alternative is the 40-pound diaper which is really gross, but it is funny to watch the little one try to WALK with such a heavy diaper Then you have to quickly change them before they tip over!
I didn't have the swimmers for my older kids, they only got around here for youngest DD. I always hated when the diapers burst while they were swimming.
Lislynn18, good job on the trash picking. It is so neat the way your kids have adjsuted so well to their new life style!! I guess that makes it a little easier on you!
Frugal today was also fun. Our church had Childrens Day today and they celebrated with a family fun fair/picnic outside. The kids also put on a wonderful mini concert and presentation for Habitat for Humanity. All their offerings went towards that charity. Anyway I digress...due to the heavy rains the party was held inside. When all the kids got out of Sunday school there was a moon-bounce inside the meeting hall !!! Each person got a hotdog, chips, watermelon and lemonaid. Plus a coupon to pick a prize from the "pocket lady". Each family just had to bring cookies.
The kids got lunch and we all had fun for an hour or so. Oh and I snuck some yummy brownies when no one was looking-certainly not LC so dont tell anyone (shhhh)

I had to laugh at this one, DH went on a business trip with me back when DS ws little. He took him in the kiddie pool with his diaper and did not know they could burst. Of course, it did and it was funny to hear him tell how he was trying to get it all out of the water. Needless to say he did not think it was funny at the time.
Happy Birthday Iris!
Yesterday we went to the Scholastic Sale and I let the kids get some books with my funds. I did get a 19.95 book for 30 cents (tax). It had been marked down to 10.00 and they took half of that. I then used my five dollar coupon and only had to pay tax. Kids got some good books for the summer too.
We then went to the library where they had crafts and shows all free for opening day of summer reading program!
I did not have time to yard sale but did stop at the one up the street and she donated a lot of baby items for a charity I collect for.
Today we went to a family reunion, so had a good buffet. We took potatoe salad. They had a bingo and we all won some white elephant items.
Lislynn18 - great finds on your trash finds.

Can't wait to start being frugal again.

Vjumpstart, good to hear from you!! Hang in there things will eventually fall in place. And even though you are not being frugal, we still like to hear from you. It's not your fault your not being frugal. If we don't hear from our members we start to worry!
On the yogurt making, I only used powdered milk and it turned out fine. I have to be honest though and admit, I haven't made any in a long time. I buy 5 a week at Aldi's at 35 cents each, someday I might get motivated to make it at home, it would be much more economical and healthier. I think I figured it out to 8 cents each serving.
Yesterday's frugalness: Made dinner for the week.
Menu:
Johnny Marzetti
Tuna Casserole
Sloppy Joes
Macaroni & Cheese to go with fish
Salmon Fish w/ frozen veggies that has pasta in it.
so all I have to do when I go home from work is pop it in the microwave and dinner is served in less than 20 minutes.
I went to Joann's yesterday afternoon and bought on clearance balm pots and made perfume balm last night. I already had the beeswax and petroleum jelly, just heated on low added Sweet Pea fragrance oil and made 7 pots of perfume balm.
I also went to the Goodwill and sad to say, there is no more 50 cents clearance section they do have 50% and 75% off weekly sales and I found 2 pairs of kids jeans for $1.00 a pair for my purses. Still not too bad.
They did have one awesome deal though, they sell Target stuff and they had a huge amount of neon colored travel soap dishes in neon pink, green and yellow. These are kind of neat, they have a push button and it opens from the top. Anyways, they were 25 cents a piece and I bought about $5.00 worth of them. I will use them to put my soaps in for the mall, much easier than trying to wrap them. I'll put a label on the bottom with the description and ingredients and customers can just push the button to see what the soap looks and smells like.
Well guess that's all for now. Vjumpstart, glad to see you finally found us. I have wondered how your trip went and what was happening with you.
Sure hope leasmom is doing o.k. she should be about ready to hit the road.

I’d Like To Help You Out.. Which Way Did You Come In?
well we leave for the specalist in st louis pretty soon. i wont be on till later tonight. hope everyone has a good day. it took 30 to fill up our bravada. hopefully that will be close enough to get there. i think ill have to fill up again tho befor i get back. gas is getting so expencive. not much else going on. have some snack type foods to keep us. dont have much cash so it will be nice to kind of picknic for us. have a good day all. talk at you later.
I finished up our grocery shopping this weekend. Total coupon savings of 16.95. I was very happy about that. DH and I talk and decided that as soon as the kids are out of school we will only use the one car. His. But only because it gets much better milage then my minivan. It is going to be hard to stick to that. But with gas going for 2.10 a gallon it is the best thing for our budget. (((SIGH))) I have made out a menu of meals I know the whole family likes. It is for two weeks. With one new recipe every two weeks. They might get bored with having the same thing every two weeks but it is again the best thing for our budget.
Another frugal thing that happened it may not seem like much but we got our credit card bill in the mail Sat.. And we got the total bill under 2,000.00. As I said it may not seem like much but just a year ago it was over 6,000.00. We are aiming for paying that darn thing off.
