Lee, I'm glad you all enjoy the sauce We're having it for dinner too, and for lunch! The kids have noon dismissal this week so I'll have English Muffin Pizza waiting for them when they get off the bus.
I was LOL about the kids watching the garbage men. My oldest DS used to do the same thing and I expect it of Luke soon too. Already, every time we get in the car, he starts asking, "Go look train? Go look bull-bozer?"
Leasmom, have a safe, fun, and crisis-free trip back to TN! We look forward to hearing from you when you get there
My kids had a "hose party" yesterday when they got home from school and broke the hose nozzle so I had to go pick up a new one. Also got some shorts for DD who fit in the ones she had, 2 weeks ago, but now they are "too tight and too small." I think she's growing again! She has a couple of pairs of jeans with holes in the knees so I plan to make cutoffs from those. Then she should be all set. And Luke got some T-shirts. He only had a couple in the right size for this summer. WalMart had some cute ones for only $3 so that works for me!
It will be an un-frugal evening as it's time to invest some $ in our school's annual Carnival. I'd rather just write the school a check but the kids love it. So we'll go there for some games, rides and dessert but we're eating dinner at HOME. I can handle standing on just so many lines with Luke in tow.
Glad to see you back, Karen! Good job on saleing the treadmill.
Leasmom, I will echo everyone else, have a safe, and fun trip. And be sure to let us all know how it went when you are all set up.
Leighann, I also had to laugh about the kids cheering on the garbage men, my kids use to do that too. (if only entertainment were still that easy and cheap, for them);-)
This is not overly frugal, but will be in the long run, I guess. dH, bought an old laptop from a friend for $40. That way, I can take it outside and get my work done, instead of buying a brand new one, and worrying about ruining it taking it in the hot sun, or getting it dirty or wet. And DD, gets to play outside, instead of having to stay indoors. That way we are both happy.
I am thinking of calling about a family pool pass for the summer, they tell me that if you buy a pass before they open for the season, they are cheaper. Last, year we had a pool in the back yard but the pump went bad, and it would have cost as much for a pump as what the entire pool would have cost. And the older kids were not happy with it due to it not being big enough. I am wondering if it will be cheaper to just get a pool pass, rather than, dealing with filters, chemicals, time, and handing kids money to go to the public pool with friends.
Other frugal, I hung wash out in spite of the rain prediction, and I actually didn't make it rain. Usually, if I hang wash out when rain is predicted it rains, if I don't hang wash it don't rain. But, the wash dried wonderfully.
Leasmom: Happy trails to you--and a save journey to your new home!
Not much frugal lately--picked up a pair of shorts at ALDIS today for oldest for $4.99.
Wanted to share a recipe for frugal dinner on the grill:
Make up individual sized meatloaves-any recipe. Put into foil packet with any potatoes, veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, peppers, etc.) that you like. If using only potatoes, add a couple T. of water. Seal foil packet and cook on grill. When done, open and add cheese to top, reseal to melt cheese. We call it hobo dinner--it's delicious and it's a whole meal in one. We serve with biscuits or dinner rolls. AND-everyone gets what they want to eat!
I think I'm going to make up a bunch of meatloaves and freeze to have on hand this summer. All we'll have to do is add the veggies!!!
Leasmom....Want to wish you all the luck in your new adventure. I am so proud of you and what you have accomplished on your own. You are destined for better things in your life because you put heart and soul into everything you do. I am sure your daughter is very proud of you too. Look at where the two of you have traveled together. Keep in touch with us.

Also, Mom & Dad sold their house for them, for me. But...they don't want the new owners to have any good plants from the landscaping so Bro and I are getting whatever we want. There's probably 10-15 different kind of hostas and I plan to find a place for every one of them. Spent about 2 hours putting them all in. Supposed to rain off and on all week (again) so they should set in good. [/b]
LJsmom - just a note to be sure that the new buyers know that you are taking the flowers. If it was not mentioned in contract they can come back and ask for them back or for replacement cost.
Welcome back WVmom!!
Barbszy - We have our summer picnic the 2nd weekend in June. We have already had to turn in the chances for the grand prize so the kids could get a free uniform day. Then today had to send in another $3.00 for a nonuniform day for them to buy cake mixes, eggs, butter, etc. and items to fill the goodie jars. The church has a big baking day in the caferteria and then we are still asked to make cakes also.
My kids also liked to watch the garbagemen and recycle truck. They would run to the window when they heard them.
Today we had the teacher appreciation lunchion and reader awards. DS got two awards for reading. I then watched his class while his teacher and aide went to their luncheon. Then all the volunteer teachers got to eat the leftovers. It was good!

Welcome Back... I have so missed you and hearing what's happening in WV.
Good going on the treadmill... that's one piece of equipment dh wouldn't let me drag home and in retrospect am so glad he did as I keep tripping over the bike exercisor that's been in the basement the last 6-7 years!
Redcardinal-
Seems like you have a busy schedule this time of year. Are you a list person? That's the only way I'd be that organized, whew!

Those Hobo meals sound great... would be good for camping trips too. Just pack in ice or put in the camper frig. if your lucky enough to have one.
mom2-4
Pool pass sounds like a good idea if it's within walking distance of home. Driving the kids daily might wipe out any savings.
Not much frugal or unfrugal here.
Made the precooked Johnny Marzetti for dinner last night, super fast meal. Then went outside and sat on porch with dh, enjoyed a cup of coffee and watched the thunderstorm. Then went down in my work room and worked on making another Go Bucks purse to take down to the mall next weekend. We got our bi weekly invoice from the mall yesterday and sold another necklace- thank you Songberries you are definitely dh's hero.

Leasmom, have a safe trip. Its fun driving cross country I think. I drove from CAlif. to NY and back and it was really kinda fun. Seeing the states.
So many posts, not enough time to read them all!!
I found bread yeast at Walmart -13 oz for $5 and I paid $6 at the grocery store for 7 oz. !! What a price differance.
I will not buy anything at the grocery store if Walmart has it. I swear their prices cant be beat.
Frugal there. Raining so cant hang out laundry, but making bread and cookies today.
