On the roses, all you do is bunch them together and tie upside and let them dry out. Then store in a container such as a coffee can or just leave them hanging somewhere till your ready to use them.
Lavender I don't know about since I buy mine dried already.

I did find out a typical shower uses 20 gallons of water. !!!!! I think we already have a lowflow showerhead. The laundry idea is great. I shall try a few.
Weather here is very cold- 38 supposed to get rain, not a drop. We need it badly. Got some snow flurries.
For dried flowers, Ive always tied them together at the stems and just hung them upside down. Ive still got some roses from years ago I did and they are fine.
Frugalness today, washed in cold water- used dryer tho. Baked bread and granola bars. Also cooked up alot of hamburger and put in baggies and froze for dinners later.

[B][color=purple] Oh Robin! How I envy you!! Tripe coupons.... Gee! We haven't seen that in monts!!! I would go absolutely crazy. I'd have a 'high' for such a long time.
Carol - I know I have to get my coupons in order for Friday, payday, so I can shop!
Congrats to Lislynn on your new job and OSI for selling those purses!
Went out to eat tonight for DS getting a great report from teacher on his testing and a good day also. She said to reward him as we left the room today. So went to Max & ERma's where we had two free coupons for the kids meals. Still by the time you add a drink and sundae bar (.99) it brings the bill up (less than twenty with tip). Oh well he deserved, and earned it.
Conserving water - When I find water left in glasses or bottles, I pour it on my plants.

That's funny, I also pour the water on my plants instead of down the drain!
idlroper, I also had a stepdd that took long showers and also let the water run for 3-5 minutes before she turned on the shower head! I would lie in bed and get very adjetated, but never wanted to say anything.....once in awhile I would make a comment to her Dad but then I felt bad and thought I could learn to live with it and just take shorter ones myself....such a delicate subject! She left home 1 1/2 yrs ago but when she comes home she still takes long showers....but OH WELL! Maybe someday she will realize the cost of it!
I feel for you tho, as you may have sds there for awhile yet.....good luck!
Another shower idea: our electric co. was advertising high pressure showerheads--which use less water but force the water out harder to make it seem like you are getting more. Thought that was a good idea. And sometimes when you get things like that from them, they offer rebates, discounts, etc.
For anyone who uses coffeemate--we don't drink coffee/tea without it here--they have a rebate program now for upc symbols--for free coupons, merchandise, etc. Go to coffee-mate.com. I figure we may as well get something for how much we drink!
DS #1's 10th birthday today! I can't believe how my baby has grown up. I decorated the "big chair" at the head of the table for him last night and put up the birthday banner with balloons. He's getting a new bike tonight, but this a.m. he's getting some small, reasonably priced or free items: a pack of new baseballs-$4.99, some caps for his cap gun-$3, some free sample fishing baits and a cat in the hat t-shirt I ordered from pop tarts. He also gets his choice of dinner tonight-mac/cheese using cheese from a jar (his choice, not mine!), a vanilla/choc. layer cake frosted with 1/2 choc. 1/2 white frosting, and ice cream. Pretty frugal all the way around. We really put our money into the new bicycle, but it's nice and he should love it!
I used my dehydrater to dry the roses for the potpouuri. It worked really well and it smelled good while it was on.
I haven't been up long but I have a load in the wash and I've been cleaning out one of the file cabinets of the old bank statements and such. Is there an easier way of keeping records? Not fair to make us keep records for so long. Too much paper!

Yeah in the trash!! Honestly though, if you don't use if for taxes, I don't keep it, I figure the bank has copies of all the cancelled checks. And as long as I know it is cleared with bank and the bank sent me record of it, in the trash it goes!!!
Today, hanging wash out to dry, that of course was washed in cold water with homemade det. I am really liking the home made det. My clothes are so much softer, even the line dried stuff. No one here complains of stiff clothing, they already know that I will say if you don't like it them figure out a way to dry them your self for free!!! I know I am a cruel mom/wife!! But, hey I am the one that has to manage the money!
Today, I have to clean out guinea pig pens. I figured it out today, that when we bought the guinea pigs we got 7 guinea pigs for the price of two!! The mom pig was already pregnant when we bought her, the poor thing!!! At the time her previous babies were only two weeks old.
Anna thanks for the tip on drying the roses...neve even thought about doing that..my dd gave me a dozen long stem yellow roses for Mother's Day..am going to dry them....
I also put used water in my flower beds..
Am at the library using the pc and my hour is almost up..so will read the free newspaper, get some DVD free rentals and head home...
Don't forget today is Frog Jumping Day.....

I've been frugal today without even trying! It's been raining, so I don't need to water my lawn!
I took in several of my tops yesterday, and they look ok, so that was good. I canned 40 pints of raspberry jam last night at our church cannery. It was only 6.09 a pint to can it.

Do you mean $6.09 per pint or $6.09 for the whole batch? That sounds so good.
Not much frugal here... just working on the purses. They all wanted velcro put inside to close the purse so I did that this morning. Went to the thrift store last night after work and after Joann's and bought 6 more pairs of kids jeans for more purses, they were 25 cents each. also found 2 more sheet sets for my rag rugs... 2 complete sets were total $$2.99 one set red, one set gray. So I'll cut up and use both sets to make one rug in our OSU red and gray colors.
Well off to finish the purse up will be back on later.
