Good almost afternoon everyone-

It's a hot and balmy day here in Ohio, supposed to get to 85 today. Not doing much, just enjoying the free air conditioning at work:p I've been working on a small recipe book to take to our mall next month will be offerring it free with any purchase from our booth. I told dh us women are attracted to signs like... Free, Clearance or Reduced

We're calling the book: Homecroft Holler The Best of Ohio Recipes and I'm using recipes from Ohio cookbooks.

Hi everyone,
I hit a couple of garage sales on Saturday I got a collage picture frame for 1.00. Its very nice and I got a tube of dinasaurs for ds that have never been open! I told him when he does a bm in the potty he can open them he tried really hard on Saturday and then we went for a walk and boom! I felt so sorry for him that I let him have 1 from the tube....

Anna,
I cant believe Gateway treated your dh that way. We have a Gateway which is a hand me down from my parents we had some problems and dh called in we gave them my step moms name as she was registerd however no warranty and they stayed on the phone with us for an 1hr to help through. Never had a mean word... Guess we got lucky.

It is warm out today and hung one load out...I had a heck of time getting all the kids out this morning, I defintly have to get more organized as it was chaos..

Hope everyones enjoying the weather.

Hi ya'll....I'm back from my trip away to Whistler with my dd! We had a good time, but nice to be home! Had a visit from ds #2 and my parents, as we had a queen hide a bed. dd's twin boys (9 yrs) sure loved the water slide at our place! It was so cold out, tho that I just tried it once, although they went 5 different times in 2 days!
Our frugal things were: we didn't eat out, except when we went to Vancouver Island and I took my parents and eldest sis out for a Japanese lunch (for Mom's & Fathers Day and my sis's 50th b/d) We brought all our food and just had to buy a few veg's and a loaf of bread. We also found a coupon for a free 'frapachino' at Starbucks and enjoyed that!
Now that I am home I am going to try to only buy the bare necessatities and eat out of my 2 deep freezes!

Hope everyone had a great Mothers Day! My dd left Sat for home, but dd #1 was here and spent the day with us! He cooked breakfast and we went to our place at the lake, went for a long hike in the woods and had hotdogs over the campfire and then came home for a nice dinner! Was a great day!
By the way Joesbaby....being away from your loved one can be a good thing, as you really appreciate them (and them you) when you see each other! Dh & I have been like lovebirds for the last 2 days (I know it will wear off soon, but for now I am LOVING IT!!!

Alida-

Sounds you all did a joint effort to be frugal- good for all of you, team work really helps. Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip.

Lee-

Yeah, Gateway was nice to us all the other times we called but this last guy and his supervisor were just real jerks! I pray we don't ever have to even try to call them again. Dh is pretty confident now and is almost ready, almost..... to hang out a new shingle in the front yard, PC on Call:p

Frugal is not an adjective

I would use to describe the last few days. Our 3 days in the Door County Peninsula cost about $500 (hotel, meals, gas, tourist stuff), but that was planned -- and well worth it!

What wasn't planned was the pump in our well going out the night before we left. So we had no water the morning we were to leave. DH had to buy a new pump and some electrical stuff, totaling about $400. That's just one of those "joys" of country living. The only frugal part was we didn't have to pay for any labor. DH & I pulled the pipe (all 1500 feet of it) and the pump out ourselves. Then later our son came by and helped DH stuff it all back in.

So I'll be trying extra hard to be frugal the next few weeks.

Took DS to dental school for extraction of two more teeth. He now does not have to go back for 6 months. Thanks goodness.

Went to a free dinner as a reward for charity work tonight.

Filled up both cars, DH was 1/2 tank and mine on Empty. Gas jumped from 1.82 to 1.99. Meijers was great as they did not jump up right away like all the others. They will go up in the morning. So the one across the street stayed lower (1.83) also. I also took my coupon from bottom of my receipts and saved an additional .3 per gallon.

Got my milk on sale for 1.99 and bought a lunchable that was on sale for DS lunch tomorrow. That was it! Meijers also had a sign in the store that they had triple coupons so will have to make a list and check my coupons!

Oh Robin! How I envy you!! Tripe coupons.... Gee! We haven't seen that in monts!!! I would go absolutely crazy. I'd have a 'high' for such a long time.

I 'finally' found that cleaning solution, that someone here had mentioned....long ago. "Awesome" I love it! Found it in our new store, "Food Basics". (Took over a few "Farmer Jack" stores.) This new store is really very nice and clean. Everything is so organized and well stocked. Can only use coupons at face value, but has alot of good deals. Their meats are terrific. Got a Cook's Ham at .68 lb. and a center pork loin at $1.98 lb. I plan to do alot of shopping there in the future.

Anna..my dd in NJ has a Gateway and loves it..always finds their staff really helpful...I have a Compaq..and these little darlings in India are nice and friendly but last time they really messed my pc up big time..they blamed my problems on Earthlink who blamed Microsoft....and I ended up paying a local repair shop to solve my problems..

Guess there are good and bad in all of the brands...

Frugal today is staying home and waiting for Orkin...we have a termite protection contract and they are coming to drill the patio and porches and inject with the chemicals.(they do it periodically)..it is termite season here in FLa..thank goodness I have never had a problem but some I know have...always better to be safe than sorry...

Frugal birthday party: oldest is turning 10 this week (my baby!) and wants to have some friends sleep over. Will take them fishing, order pizza and I will bake a b-day cake. He also wanted to rent a playstation 2 to play games and a neighbor boy offered to lend him his for free! So we only have to pay to rent the games. Pretty frugal! We're getting him a new bike, which is expensive, but he's getting old enough to be responsible for an expensive item like that. Will also make cupcakes for him to take to school Thurs. He's fine with that.

Vickilynn: Isn't Door Co. beautiful? Haven't been there for years, but it sounds more expensive and commercialized than when we were there last (16+ years ago).
Water pump: At least you didn't have to drill a well! The well went out at our place here just before we bought it and the previous owners (14 years ago) had to pay $2500 to drill a new one! The old one was inside, and they needed to install a pressure tank, etc.

DH just ordered a part and fixed the dishwasher himself-saved tons of $$$. It sure is nice having a handy husband.

We need to do some major reseeding of our lawn--will have to bring in topsoil, etc. Not cheap, but at least we enjoy growing things. Got my flowers all planted and outside-on the beautiful mother's day we had here. Really enjoyed it. Still need to till and plant the veggie garden.

Unfrugal: The motor went out on the table saw in the middle of dh's coffee table project. Very costly. It stinks when that stuff happens.

Have a good Tuesday!

Good Morning everyone-

Just got in from going to the doctors for another of those women annual checkups... I so hate getting old! Now that I've passed that ripe old age of 40, have to get those every year.. Ugh!

Not much frugal to report here lately. Washed in cold, will hang out tonight as I'll still have about 3 hours of heat when I get home. Am working on the blue jean purses today and finishing my red, white and blue rag rug.. this one is the biggest I've made yet and very cumbersome. yesterday I brought it in to work to work on over lunch and forgot the crochet hook I was so lost without my project.

Still eating on my big cooking project from Saturday. I made a huge batch of Johnny Marzetti used the pasta water to cook another batch of Tuna Casserole with, so we've had that for several meals... one more night of Johnny Marzetti then on to other stuff.

Oh found at Aldi's: 4 chicken breast patties in a box at $1.99 we made a double decker sandwich from those along with fresh corn on the cob for dinner this weekend.

I've also noticed if you go to Aldi's at the end of the day, they have a clearance sale. I bought 7 grain bread for .50 cents a loaf and cinnamon rolls in the package for .50 cents. I stocked up on the bread. They also had those sugar coated doughnuts for .50 cents... Love those but they spike my sugar really bad so left them there.
