Emmajean: Me....laugh? The mother of the children who like pickles and peanut butter? Cucumber slices dipped in milk? I'll try the spaghetti sandwich idea-why not?

Thanks, gals.

I have not been on the computer much over the last few days, I wondered why there were no messages from the frugal board....Forgot I had to subscribe!

Frugal, cooking at home using coupons, wash in cold hang to dry....Just the usual and I cant even say I hung all to dry this week but I ran out of room and just wanted the laundry done...If only it would be nice for more than one day around here, today its sunny buy there is still a chill in the air.
One good thing we are on budget for electric use well the year was up and our budget amount has gone down for the next year! Basicaly I wont have guilt running the air if it ever gets hot out. I love to open windows but sometimes you just have to run the air. We have tried turning on yet I hope we dont have any problems when we do.

Anna,
That is a good idea with the blue jeans. My little man Josh went to the dr yesterday for his 2 month shots poor thing had 3 he was misreable last night. He now weighs 15 lbs, I dont know I may have missed the sling carrier with his size....He is in the 90th % for his weight and 75% for height and head size. I still find it hard to beleive that the one year old I babysit only weighs 3 more pounds than my 2 1/2 month old. It scares me I know Josh is big however the 1 yr old is unhealthy looking he is just to thin and his mom still insists he have no meat and when she is done with this case of formula she says she is NOT doing whole milk but rather organic soy milk. I think she takes the organic/vegeterian thing over the top, he is just a baby! What do you think? I suppose I have to keep my mouth shut but it is hard....
Has anyone pmd Leasmom? I hope she and her dd are okay.

Rivermom don't forget Hobo pies for the sandwich maker!

two slices of bread, any type of pie filling. of course butter the bread, and make in sandwich maker!

Lee, I would be concerned about the 1 yo. that is a little over board. I think cubby babies are cuter anyway! My DS, was always off the chart for his weight, and in the 95% for height, and head.

And to see him now you would never believe it. It is so skinny, and tall!

I think Leasmom posted on the WFD thread. So we need not worry, that something is wrong.

Not much frugal here. I had to make a run to the store. I messed up on my groc list. I forget to get spag sauce for crockpot lasagna. So was going to do favorite stand by of Tuna Noodle Caserole, but did not have cream-of-soup. And did'nt have time to make a white sauce. But, I have cottage cheese in the fridge for lasagna that I don't want to go to waste. So went and picked up several things at the store. Grocery prices are outrageous!!

I did read in a farmers newspaper that the price of milk is predicted to go down in price in a few months, I really hope so!

Leasmom was at What's for dinner today.....

Lee, my kids are all on the "small" side but none were that small at 12 months. My smallest one was 19 lb at a year old. I don't restrict meat, cheese, or milk though. I think that mom is pushing her luck with her little guy! He could use the fat in his diet. I think up to age 2 they don't recommend restricting dietary fats because it helps in many areas of development including brain development. I hope she changes her mind.

I'm wondering if Luke will drop weight as he doesn't drink any milk at all anymore. Not even soy milk. I have been getting him to eat grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch and giving a calcium supplement but I do worry. I'm a big milk drinker! At least he's a good water drinker. He stays hydrated.

Leighann-

The reason Josh is so healthy I'm sure is the breast milk. This mother you babysit for... she didn't breast feed right? Soy milk is healthy as long as your not using the fruity flavored stuff that is high in sugar.

I would ask her to make sure she brings things for snacks like peanut butter, etc. and soy cheese.... alot of people want the vegetarian lifestyle but don't eat properly. She could also bring Boca and Morningstar burgers for him. They are soy but taste really good and are easy to prepare.

I am so glad you all agreed with me as I thought maybe it was just me. The part that really scares me is that she is a well educated person. I just dont get it.... One last thing, I think she should at least supplement with vitamin drops....
I just put Evan on a daily vitamin. Barb, does Luke eat yogurt and broccoli? Will he drink Oj?

Breezy,
I dont beleive Josh is already 2 1/2 months time flies thats for sure.

Well off to for nap time for me! I finaly figured how to put one of the babies to sleep put on NPR, for 2 days it has worked like a charm!

Lee, no, Luke does not eat yogurt or broccoli, or drink OJ. Actually he doesn't drink ANY juice!!! Water only! Although this weekend he drank some Capri Suns. Maybe I will get him juice boxes if he'll drink it that way. No yogurt, since it requires a utensil, which for the most part he won't bother using! He takes a vitamin and a calcium supplement, and I buy bread with added calcium. Doing the best I can to get it into him. He does eat a good variety of foods, though.

Lee, your little guy sounds perfectly fine! But I'd be worried about the 1 year old daycare kid who is only 18#. That's not even on the charts. They range from 19 to 28# for that age. And it's a bad idea to limit fat in young children because they need it for brain development.

DH has a 3-day weekend coming up, and he's taking me to Door County (on Lake Michigan) for Mothers Day weekend. The hotel offers a continental breakfast. I checked it out, and everything they serve is loaded with carbs. So I have to choose: be frugal and eat the free breakfasts, or stick with my diet and buy my own. So hard to pass up a free meal. But I know I should. We'll see how strong I can be.
