Hummm, something frugal today
Actually I was a naughty mommy, and spent more than I ever do. My kids needed it though, and we had fun. I'll tell you, my 11 year old did NOT get her love of shopping from me!
I took my three kids and let my dh keep my foster son (his mom is taking him school shopping over the weekend, and my gang really needed a break) We went to "Ryan's" for lunch. They liked being able to "let loose'. My dh is very ridgid at times . From there we went to stores. Some to "window shop" like to "PETSMART" and others to get some school stuff"AC MOORES" and "WALMART". We started with $142.00. Spent $5.00 on gas, and $25.00 at the restraunt. I gave each kid $10.00 to use for whatever. STILL bought school supplies, underclothes, a "MUDD" book bag for my daughter, got my son's hair cut and co-paid my nephew/ foster son's medication. Would you guys call $142.00 on 3 kids fairly frugal? My daughter cracked me up at "WALMART". I had choosen a pack of undies for her and my 11 year old shopping queen says: "No way mom. That cost's $6.00 for 7 pair". You should have heard her voice. I guess even if she is a "serious" shopper, she will be at least semi-frugal!

Hugs all :p

$142 for 3 kids sounds frugal to me!!!

Look at all you accomplished! That's pretty good to me!!!

Does anyone know when the clearance sales start? Is it after Labor Day?

WOOHOO!!! I finally cancelled the $75 accidental order

I showed my sister and she fell in love with ABC Distributing. I showed her the Barbie Storage/Hot Wheels Storage thingy that I accidentally ordered and she was very excited about the Hot Wheels one. She didn't like the Barbie one. Well, I had 3 Barbie ones coming. So, they just sent me an email saying that they were almost ready to ship. I believe I cancelled in time, if not, I'll just send it back. But, I think I cancelled and that makes me pretty darn happy! We're keeping the Hot Wheels one only. I find out for sure either tomorrow or Friday if it was in fact cancelled in time.

My sister loved it so much that she ordered off of there as well. 1 of her items are back ordered, but she couldn't believe how cheap the items were.

I at least have 1 Christmas gift out of the way. I just have 4 more-(for the kids)-to go!!!

Songberries, you are right. Sometimes you just have to spend some money to save a lot of money. And some times you have to spend a lot of money....

Still working on that freezer, pantry and fridge. I told DH what I was doing (trying to use up what we have), and he agrees it's a good idea. I took some chicken breasts out of the freezer yesterday, and we had Italian style chicken cutlets. Had leftovers tonight, and still have one breast left. If he doesn't take it for lunch tomorrow, I will. I put the bones in the freezer for chicken soup. I may save them for cooler weather, though!

No frugal shopping today. I did try as I got a Kohls.com ad but did not go into until this evening. They had $1.50 kids shirts but were sold out in the sizes I needed.

We did have our meatless spaghetti so saved on meat, however my bunch would be amazed if we did have meat with our spaghetti.

Lee mentioned nephew eating pb&J all the time, my daugher can do the same right now. Dh always eats the same lunch too!

Frugal Lunches

I usually take leftovers too or lately, P Butter and my homemade jams. I also take canned fruit or fresh if it's reasonably priced (fresh). I refuse to buy it if it's not on sale. Canned I buy Lite or rinse the juice off it.

Lee- I do love my clothes hanger, just kinda disappointed I don't have more clothes to hang up (I know, crazy huh?). It's just a sort of peaceful thing to do and like magic, they are dry so fast. To make sure no little critters come in, I fluff in dryer for about 5 minutes.

Welcome to our new members, we always enjoy a different perspective.

I LOVE to hang clothes out to dry! I have a line but it's in a "jungle" of bushes and trees so I refuse to use it. Hanging clothes is like therapy for me. I ALSO (gasp) like to iron! I don't do it often now but when I do, set the board up and sit to iron while I watch TV. It feels so good to see all those crisp, ironed items hanging. Almost makes you want to not wear them.

I used to like to hang closthes out until the birds pooped on them. Since them I am afraid to do it. My neighbor has a garden and the birds are always flying back and fourth. I did enjoy the crisp clean smell but now I will hang them in my basement or in my empty room to dry. It is not the same but it does the job nonetheless.

I keep a dehumidifier going in the basement so the clothes will not get the gross funky musty smell. That is one thing I hate about hanging clothes int he house.

I'm with you Jayne, I also like to iron. I iron just about everything that is clothing. This morning I actually stopped my dh dead in his tracks because he put on a pair of jeans that were not ironed. He took them off, I ripped out the iron, gave them back clean and crisp and he dashed off to work.

He has been told NEVER to do that again.

Ironing-

I don't mind when I have time but doing it in the morning is the pits. I haven't had to iron all summer since I've been wearing cotton dresses to work and dh has been wearing shorts and t shirts. Unfortunately this is the last week he's allowed to wear shorts to work, company rule shorts up till labor day. So back we go to blue jeans. Meijers is having a 2 day sale this weekend with Wrangler jeans for 10.99 so will be stocking up a few pairs. Ideally I'd like him to have 10 pairs so I'm not constantly washing jeans. That's a very good price I think. Once cold weather sets in he'll be wearing flannel shirts and long sleeve shirts so I'll have to start ironing regularly again.

My frugalness yesterday. Giant Eagle is doing Super Doubles on coupons this week but the only thing they had I wanted was Edge shaving gel, w cpn. it was free. My girlfriend at work was going there last night, I gave her my coupons & she picked it up for me. Saved me a gallon of gas driving out of my way for one item.
