Exclamation Have I ever been to Detroit?!

Gosh! I was born and raised in Grand Rapids. I've been to Dtown several times!

I once dated a guy named Ron Demeiter (don't remember if that is the correct spelling of his last name). His dad was "connected" if ya know what I mean. The first, last, and only time I went to Ron's parents house I thought I'd die. We're talking I thought I'd walked onto a gangster movie set or something! He never really wanted to take me to meet his parents and I quickly found out why. Needless to say, we didn't last long after that. Not the kind of life I wanted. I didn't care how much money they had!

WINN DIXIE BUY 1 Get 2 Free

Went to Winn Dixie today had garden salads on sale. Also
had Muellers spaghetti, Parkay Margarine, Pita Bread & Genoa Salami in sealed packages. Was in the mood for a nice salad with salami added to it had it for lunch. The best part was buy one get two free.

Bought some more rump roasts at $1.88 pound cut them in half making one for dinner tonight the rest I froze.

So far have saved $1,623.00 using my customer reward card in Winn Dixie. Makes you feel good when you see it in writing. Hopefully I have also saved the money in the bank?

OMG!!!

Quote-"The first, last, and only time I went to Ron's parents house I thought I'd die. We're talking I thought I'd walked onto a gangster movie set or something!"-that's so funny!!!

I've lived in some pretty bad areas as an adult, as a kid I lived in a semi-well-to-do-(we thought)-area. We were what I like to call, UPPER-POOR-LOL!!!

I remember ducking bullets at night when dd was 3 yrs old. I remember trying to take her trick-or-treating and there was a shoot-out and I had to throw dd into the bushes. Can you guess I'll never move back there? And this was a $600 apartment building-LOL!

I still have family and friends there. I email one friend daily and write the other. My mother jokes that she couldn't live no where else because she likes not knowing if she's going to get rob at the bus stop, she likes worrying that she's stepping into gang territory, she likes watching her back-(she's so funny!!!).

Detroit is definately a scary place! I don't miss it at all, but I miss my family!

Songberries,

That was way too many pages to wade through. Could you post the recipe here? I have some meatballs in the freezer getting freezer burned. Thanks!

MKS - It's listed under casseroles in the recipe section here on familycorner.

Detroit

I've been there once on our way to Windsor and not to offend anyone but that sure was one dirty city. A hooker tried to pick up dh at the Wendy's while I was in getting a cup of coffee, dh was in a big hurry to get out of there:p

I have to say there are some parts of Ohio that look just as bad, Akron for one. I was shocked when we drove through there at how ugly it was (Industrial area).

Frugal today? Discouraging dh from stopping after work at the store to pick up "fresh" chicken breast or fish" to grill out tonight when we have both in the freezer at home, savings? Around $10.00-$14.00.

Went grocery shopping last night, our Big Bears started Super Doubles w/ coupons yesterday. Grocery bill went from $80.00 to 28.00 of which $9.00 was for dh beer- Ahhh... if only they had coupons for that

I got Cremora free, and Palmolive dish soap for .49 cents the big container. Got Morningstar Buffalo Wings(vegetarian) free or for .50 cents (had two different types of coupons). this was a good deal in that a few weeks ago they had it on sale and were out and I asked for a rain check so I was able to make my own deal

Went to Krogers with another raincheck for pop and got a good deal too.

Always ask for rainchecks.

Amen!! Our Winn Dixie is really bad about running out of sale items (especially when they have the B1G2 sales) and I'm not at all shy about asking for rain checks.

Update on the funny money in town--they arrested someone yesterday for trying to pass one of those bills at a gas station in town. Now just how dumb can people be????? This has been all over the news INCLUDING CNN and this guy thinks he can get away with it again??? They don't know yet if he's the same one from the Food Lion snafu yet though. I'm curious to know if the FL stunt was an inside thing since they have the policy of nothing over $100. I'll bet we see this person in the unemployment line at the very least.

Funny Money

Did I mention we have one of those bills? One of the ladies here at work (Accounting) bought them at a dollar store last year.

Oh my gosh. I have one of those bills too. I just ran across it when I was packing yesterday. How funny. I got it off a freebie site I belong to. Thank you Jayne for the laugh I really needed it. I hate to move and was feeling a little down about it.
