Boggz-

Sorry didn't mean to ignore you but I don't know how to store them. Seems like I've seen them in wreaths though?

Karen--this is from Foodtv.com:

Store fresh garlic in an open container (away from other foods) in a cool, dark place.

Hope this helps! We LOVE roasted garlic. Yum Yum!

Our power went out for a few minutes

The whole section of town where I live. I went to go get dd and then the lights came back on so I wasted gas for nothing...oh well...

I heard about deodorant being the same, but for me I have very sensitive skin-me and dd are allergic to fragrances-we just built ourselves up to being able to use Ivory. Before I had to buy oatmeal soap which is very unfrugal at $2.99 to $3.99 per bar! I even started making my own which was great but being in school I didn't have very much time to do it. I even tried the melt and pour and I broke out from it, despite the fact that it had no fragrance. I am the same when it comes to deodorant, only it has to be a solid and not the gel stuff. I even made my own deodorant at one point but it didn't work perfectly so I went back to using other stuff...I think if you aren't sensitive to the fragrance often in men's deodorant that it would be a good ideal. I know I buy alot of men's/boys items now, like socks for the both of us and pants for dd. They just last longer! So, I think men's deodorant would be a good investment because they offer more and it's probably better protection than womens...

I agree about the Kirby vac.......don't do it! My mom bought one back in 1969...and it was almost 600.00 back then! She hated it, too! Didn't really work that much better than her old hoover.

Men's deodorant isn't the only better deal.......men's shirts are made better, and less expensive than women's.

I never owned a Kirby, but I have had a demo of one. Poor guy! I knew what they were going to do, so I moved all the furniture out of the room I wanted demoed. He had to vacuum and shampoo the whole thing! When he was done he called his super. to tell him he was done and I didn't buy (on my phone). The super. said, "What you were there over 2 hours and the B***H didn't even buy it! What kind of S**T is that!" When the young man hung up I told him that he should inform his super. that if he wants customers he should change his language and attitude. There was NO way I would have gotten one from them after that.

I had a place that had a central vac in it. I HATED lugging that hose everywhere! I just used my Kenmore canister vac.

Vacuums: I've had electrolux, panasonic, you name it. And no matter what, when we do our annual carpet shampooing with dh's commercial/industrial rug machine---there's always ALOT of dirt in the carpet! Especially with pets! And kids!! I like my panasonics well enough--at least they seem to hold up. I think you can probably get them at Walmart or such.

Frugal today: Used the pulp from juicing carrots for yesterday's tomato juice preparation to make carrot/applesauce muffins.

Used leftover chicken from the bbq to make chix. salad for sandwiches for lunch.

Bought 10 lbs. of russet potatos for .99.!!

Using oldest ds's leftover school supplies for youngest ds's preschool list requirements---teacher keeps sending home an updated list.....

And last but not least---really taking the frugal thing as far as it gets.......both boys jumped in our river after school today to cool off (90+ deg.), so........no showers needed tonight!!!

I got my free sample pack of HP printer paper in the mail...but will save that for resume's etc... I used the backside of some junk mail letters to print out internet c/o's today.

Spent the day helping my SIL move. Yuck. I have to do that all to soon.
Ericka about the Kirby. My DH got me one when we were first married. 13 years ago. Gosh its been that long. I loved it at first. But they are so heavy. And I hated the carpet cleaner. All you do is lay down this foam and let it dry then vacuum it up. Do yourself a favor if you really want a rug cleaner go to Wal-Mart and buy one for about 150.00 you will save yourself tons of money. The kirby my DH got me he paid 1200.00 for. We still have it it sits out in the garage. I now have a 56.00 vacuum and a 150.00 rug cleaner and I like them both. Have a good day.

Rivermom - I don't mind the central vac hose so much, we have a hose upstairs in a closet and one downstairs in a cupboard and when I use it, I just hang the hose around my neck to carry it. It doesn't bother me so much. Sounds like your boys found a good way to cool off!

I own a Dirt Devil Vision, bagless. I LUV it! I also have the cannister, Dirt Devil Breeze, which I use on the car.......again....luv it! I own a Hoover 4 brush rug shampooer, which I've had no problem with. Whatever you decide on purchasing, just look around and wait for a sale on them. There is ALWAYS a sale. ~ Carol
