Yep! That was my daughter. We have a big jar half full in the fridge sharing room with carrots, celery and green onions. I bet you could add any veggie to it. My friend at work pickles boiled eggs.
My mom used to add some pickle juice to her potato salad. Makes it so flavorful. You don't need alot. I bet we never throw out a jar of pickle juice again. I have never used b&b pickles, I don't care for them.
I'll let ya'll know how they taste in a couple of days when she lets us try them. I ate some of the onion the first day and tasted a carrot and celery and she told me not to eat them all the first day.

Frugelness for today was going to Home Depot with the kids and making wooden airplanes. Home Depot supplies the kits and all supplies to make them free. They hold the workshop on the first Saturday of the month. It is to help kids get into do it yourself projects and to familiarize them with tools and how to use them.
I recently read the Lowes does this also so will have to check it out.

The other was the kids were invited to a birtyday party so I just pulled out my box of discounted buys and selected some from it.

Leasmom you can come shopping with me anytime.

Besides the gloves on your hands the other thing I learned was to never touch your eyes! I cut up a few chilies, years ago, and had washed hands several times, when went to bed that night I took out my contacts. The next morning I put them back in and boy did they burn! I could not wear them for a week, I had to keep rinsing off and putting in new solution, as they were not disposal. Luckily I had an old pair of glasses as I do not get new ones each time prescription updated.

My kids also like strawberry milk. I would just buy the cheap store brand of strawberry syrup and pour a little in.

I always buy Halloween costumes when they go on sale for 90% off. I then put them in a dress-up box and the kids use them all year long. Then they go to it or others in the Halloween box for their outfits on Halloween. I have bought wigs, etc from Garden Ridge or Target for .10 to 1.00.

I completely sympathize over those hands and the chilis! I once cut up fresh jalapenos wihtout wearing gloves (DUMB! And I KNEW it waws dumb!) and I thought I would die. I tried soaking my hands in milk, washed and washed them, took Tylenol and finally went to bed wioth my hand wrapped in bags of ice. I had to get up and change the bags as the ice melted--the pain would wake me up! I finally fell off around 2 AM and my hands were sore the next day but nothing like the night before. NOW I make stuffed jalapenos with canned and pickled pickled.

Peppered hands and eyes-YIKES!!!

I told this guy at this flea market today what happened and he told me the next time just roast them and put them in the bag whole and take them out when I need it and just chop 'em up, don't peel them...If I ever attempt to do this again, I'll do it his way, cause I don't ever want that to happen again! I thought...oh, green chiles aren't hot! Boy was I wrong!!!

I had some green chiles in my eggs this morning...yummy!!! I love everything hot, so that and the big bag of Red chiles I got the day before, I'm in heaven!

RedcardinalBird, good deal on the Halloween outfits...boy! Well, I went back and got my niece one for $4.50. It's not what my sister wanted, so if she doesn't like it, it's dd's. I told her she could wear one and use them for dress up afterwards. I do hope my sister likes it though. She wanted one of those thick ones with the hoods, the coat-like ones. They had some but they were $10 for used and she could get one at Sam's Club for $14 and I only had $5 left after getting a few items at the Yard Sale and outdoor flea market. We also got some food while out...1 coney dog for me, 1 hot dog for dd, two waters...$2-something and 2 donuts for $1. That's the cheapest we could find it.

I found a coat, so dd could have two choices for $2. It's a nice black one with fur on the collar. Love it! And another book bag for $1 for dd, in case this one is lost or something. It was priced $4 but she said give her $1 for it, so I did.

I took dd to her free Tae Kwan Doe lesson...she hated it! Glad it was a free lesson!!

Now, I just have to relax and go through my new ABC paper catalog-LOVE IT! And, do my grocery list for tomorrow!!!

leasmom ...im sorry that your daughter didnt like tae kwan do. my husband is a black belt in that. he loved the classes. of course, he was also a wrestler in his "old" life befor me. i think it did alot to give him a better...understanding of control. he is a very controled person.me i get mad..and watch out..the things fly!!! he gets mad..he just looks at me....oh well..lol. gotta have at least one nut in our family i guess.

anyway..the palm came finally. its all sitting in the cradle and waiting on me to use it. i want it to charge up so i can mess with it tommrow. i think this may be one of the best gifts joe ever gave me. but he does the good things for me alot. hes a good husband, 99.75% of the time. cant have perfection i guess.

i hope everyone has as good of weekend as im haveing. we havent been frugal but weve been having fun. we got alot of new veidos and things at walmart we didnt need. but i got a grab and go mop for only $8 with a $10 off coupon. so im happy.

have a good weekend everyone.
ericka (whos loving her hubby for his thoughtfullness right now!!!)

Ericka - Your hubby sounds like a real keeper!

Leasmom - that's a shame your daughter didn't like tae kwan do. It's good it was a free lesson. Are you going to have her go to the next lesson, or call it quits?

I know this isn't on subject...

But, I had mentioned about my nieces and my horrible sil before, so I thought I'd update everyone. I just talked to my sister and she told me that my sil decided to send my nieces to her sister back in North Carolina inorder to pursue her non-existant music career. They used to live in North Carolina and I saw exactly what they're other Aunt is like, not much different than her sister, my sil. She has three daughter's of her own who aren't the nicest kids around. They boss my two niecest around even my dd, especially the oldest girl. The second oldest is very rough and doesn't know when to quit. Maybe they're older...teenagers, maybe they'll be different but I doubt it. Just like my sil, her sister doesn't have food in her house either and she is just as flighty as my sil. She has no room from them either...

I feel horrible for my niecest because they're not going to a better situation. The fact that they're mom would give them up to pursue her music career is not a surprise at all! She told us recently that she just start loving my oldest niece whose 10 yrs old! My eldest niece is like the mom of her little sister. I wish she would've sent them to us instead of her sister. We would actually show them love. But, my sil and her sister, they can't show what they never had.

We just sent them the box of undies/bookbags and supplies because my sister took her time in sending it. But, my sil just got it and didn't even open it up, so we don't even know if they'll use it. If we send them things now for them when they move to North Carolina with their other cousins...we have to really make sure that no one else can take and use it. So, clothes only!

Sorry to write such a sad update. I'm kinda crushed right now...I would rather they not be with a mother that doesn't want them, but an aunt that really doesn't want them is no better. They're aunt hadn;'t even contacted them in awhile, while we call and contact them all the time...sorry...

Tae Kwan Doe

Dd took Karate when she was little, 3 yrs old and 4. She took it for a few months but she constantly got into trouble because she's Adhd...bipolar too. But, her attention is not the best. Well, she got into trouble again today at Tae Kwan Doe and this was much more structured and harder. Her attention was pretty bad still...She said she didn't want to go back, but then she said she did want to go back. I'm not sure...I would like her to go even though I refuse to pay for both Tae kwan doe and Cheerleading. I think cheerleading is more up her speed...I hope. She's pretty good in T-ball, she's had dance, tap and gymnastics but she wasn't even 4 when she took them. Since then has been t-ball. She's going to try soccer or basketball this January and then t-ball of course.

The tae kwan doe is just because it was free for a month. But, I asked her before we went in if she liked it and it was the same price as Cheerleading would she want to take lessons. She said yes until she had to be disciplined. To tell the truth, I'd rather she did something where she felt confident in then something she dreaded and felt she was being singled out at. So, we'll see how she feels after her first day at Cheerleading on Tuesday!

Leasmom - do you think if you let the aunt know that you'd love to have the kids, that if she decided she just couldn't handle it, maybe she'd let you take them? Wow, it just kinda makes ya heart sick! Maybe the situation will change.
