You are correct. My suggestion will not work after all.
What plumbers do is put a balloon in the opening and blow it up to block the opening in the bowl. If you could figure out a way to blow up a balloon on the end of a long straw/tube that would solve your problem.
OR (easier to try)
Put a disposable rag/towel in a plastic bag and plug the opening with it. Wear long rubber gloves, of course.

Emmalee,
Glad to hear she is back! I bet her and her family will be having a merry christmas this year!
Carol,
I just wanted to say thanks a few days ago you posted a link to mycoupons sweepstakes page. Well tonight I won the dh a pair of boxer briefs from Hanes! He will love them and their tagless! lol!
Directions
1 Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
2 Pour cake mix into a large bowl. Stir in the oil and eggs until well
blended. Mix in chocolate chips. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared
cookie sheets.
3 Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Remove from pan to cool
on wire racks.
Well, I got the food basket and gave it to my neighbor, he was happy about it. I went and found everything I was supposed to get , but of course I did spend an extra $10, which is still not bad, on craft supplies for dd and I to paint our own ornaments for my sister, her two kids, and ourselves. They are cute and my daughter did a very good job. I'm pretty proud of her!!!
Nothing frugal to report. We did get our new bed (headboard and footboard) today. It is so big that I told DH I hope I don't fall off. If I do I'll be falling for a week! Ouch!
Lee - I'm so glad you won! I've played that one quite a few times, but haven't won yet!
Ericka - I always soak stained things overnight in the washer. First I agitate it with what ever soap I use, then just stop the washer and let it sit till morning.

Ericka, Ive got the same dilema as you. My own jacket got major grease on it (up and down the sleeve,) and it wont come out- Im going to try that goop hand soap stuff.
I do usually wash the jackets as soon as they get something major on it and usually spray and wash does a decent job. But this grease is something else. Let me know if goop works for you if you wash before me!
Ive been frugal by cutting paper towels in half for napkins, and I always cut my fabric softner sheets in half. These I get at the dollar store, so I get like 100 sheets for $1. Ive been using alot of dollar products, and they work to some degree.
Oh yeah- The grocery store had suave shampoo and condioner on sale for 2/1.00 so I bought 4 of them. Thought that was a good deal.
Our Christmas tree this year is the ficus tree that sits in front of the picture window. We put miniature lights on it, plus some old ornaments from years gone by. The angel on top was handmade by my cousin. I think it turned out really well, and it didn't cost anything. We haven't done that before, but this year it looked big enough, and I thought it would be unique.
I have a question about fabric softener. I just used up the last of my fabric softener sheets, and bought a bottle of fabric softener. What is the ratio of water to fabric softener when you use a washcloth with the solution? I just did some, and it is about 2/3 water and 1/3 fabric softener. But I figured I'd better double check with you. The stuff looked pretty thick, so I diluted it a lot. Is that too much? Not enough?
Don't know if this helps or not, but this is all I have saved so far regarding Fabric Softener. I currently use dryer sheets cut in half, but will be trying the liquid-on-towel (or sponge) method next.
======
Fabric Softener:
I have been using an old dish towel as a fabric softener sheet. I pour a couple of capfuls of Downey on it and throw it in the dryer. It has taken over a year to go thru a bottle of (small) Downey fabric softener. I add more Downey about every 15 loads or just when I notice a little static. It helps to use a towel that is distinct from the other laundry. I use a pink towel, which is a one of a kind in our house.

LAUNDRY FABRIC SOFTENER http://www.thefrugalshopper.com/articles/softener.html
2-3 Cups Water
1 Cup Liquid Fabric Softener
Large Sponge
Combine water and liquid softener. Cut sponge in 1/2 and keep in liquid. When drying clothes, remove sponge, squeeze out excess liquid and place in dryer with clothes. When dry, just place sponge back in liquid to be used for next load.
---
Homemade dryer sheets...
1. I got 2 free packets of Downey in [the] mail. I took an old crib sheet and cut it into squares about the size of my hand...maybe a little bit bigger. I put the squares into an old baby wipe container....you can use anything with a lid. Then I poured the 2 packets of fabric softener in and added about 1/2 cup of water. I used enough water to cover the squares. Then I just shook the container up. To use....Grab a square and squeeze out the excess and toss in the dryer.
2. I love the smell of Downy so I tried this using an old towel cut into squares. I then put them into a bowl with lid and half cap of downy and half cap of water. I let them soak for awhile then squeezed some of the excess out and hung them up to dry (I tried using them straight out of the container but that didn't work as well). I just throw 1 or 2 in the dryer when I dry my clothes. After they are done, I put them back in the solution or throw them in the washer with the clothes I'm washing and start all over again. I love this idea, thanks to all for the wonderful ideas!!
Not going to be much frugalness today. I am going shopping with DH. We only have a lttle left to do. We got the see Gabby at the Christmas program last night. A little pale a little thin, it is just so wonderful to have her back. She looked so beautiful. He Momma on the other hand look a wreck(SP?) but oh so happy. DD teacher told me last night that DD wouldn't let Gabby out of her sight and held her hand ever chance she got.
Leighann instant wins are so fun. My frugal thing for yesterday was getting insomnia, being up a 2 in the morning playing the instant wins and winning a $100.00 gift card from Lowes. It is to bad that it wont get hee before Christmas. My favorite instant win site is www.myinstantwin.com . I won some underware from Hanes too. Emmalee
