Good luck on the potty training. My sister's little boy is 3 and has no desire to try. She told me last week she was going to try boy undies w/ a plastic liner since he's just too comfortable wearing those pull up things. She said maybe if he's wet he'll be more motivated to go potty. I forgot to ask her how that was going.
btw- I've been stocking up the past 2 weeks industrial size chili beans we will probably be making chili on Sunday too. And Yes, GO BROWNS AND GO BUCKEYES !!!!!

Anna,
I was going to head on out to Walmart to look for liners, I just bought him undies that were on sale last week. Like I said I am not expecting miracles but it would be nice if it worked as I want it done before the new one arrives...Hopefully not just wishfull thinking!

Almost forgot about the Buckeyes bad Ohio girl!!! Go OHIO STATE
I saw your post about potty training and really felt for ya. My boy's are 5 and 7, neither one of them was too interested in getting rid of the diapers. So, when the oldest one was about 3 or so, my husband pretended the diapers didn't fit him anymore! He really played it out, like he was trying to get them to fit. So, my son figured there was nothing else to do, but go in the potty.
My youngest was a challenge as well. I told him, when he was about the same age, that we "don't have any more diapers!" I made a game of it, we looked high and low, all over the house. So, he felt there was nothing left to do.
Believe me, the days we did this were long. We really had to hold out and not run out to the store to get more. But, after that first day- we all felt a lot better.
Leighann good luck! We're getting ready to start working on the 2 1/2 yo dgs here. He WANTS to ptty but gets so excited that he won't stay sitting on the potty chair so I'm going to try the "
big potty" to see how he does.
Carol didn't offend me with the reference! I told her on the WFD? thread that I had a funny co-incidence right after reading her post. We had 2 young Mormon Missionary Elders stop by! I was outside clearing out the front garden bed wiht the kids, trying to hurry because it was going to rain any minute when they stopped by and offered to help. Such sweet guys. I lived next door to some elders when I was 18 and newly married (First husband. Been with #2 for almost 22 years now! ) and those guys were such fun. We had almost nightly water balloon fights.
I just received these links in my OAMC/freezer list so thought I'd share. What a cool idea!
Songberries...When I clicked the link to your story, all I got was a banner. Nothing to click on or any other pic or words. I'd like to read your story. I did enjoy reading nagymom's.
Tamip...That is so clever & cute, what your dh did about the diapers. Did he think of that on his own?
Free Warm Wishes Card from Hallmark
Ok, this is a link to the site where the link is posted. I can't get the link to work when I try posting it, so try this!
I'm making cookies to eat during the parade so we don't have to buy snacks. I'm also packing some water bottles, sidewalk chalk, squirt guns and bubbles for the kids.

Yeah, hubby thought of that all on his own. Actually, it took me off guard- he just did it one day while changing our son's diaper. Too funny! I thought he was pretty clever myself!!
I saw Kmart's clearance yesterday and they didn't have a dang ole thing I wanted or needed.
I decided to get this for my nieces and dd for X-mas. My sister and I spent a few hours on the phone discussing it.
My nieces last year mom my sil did not get them anything for Xmas, just as I thought. They got something from their great grandmother, my sister got them a jewelry box she brought from hawaii and some necklaces. My sil told them they couldn't wear it because it wasn't real and it would turn their necks green! Can you believe that?? I got them ornaments.
So, we were trying hard to figure out what to get them...so my sister suggested more underware/socks, some hat/gloves/scarf sets, and I wanted something fun...a Bratz doll. We're also going to send them hair brushes, shampoo/conditioner, hair bows, etc. I'm still going to tinker with all this for sure until I get it right. My sister wants to get them a few outfits, including sweaters.
My niece...my dd has a few sets of Mary Kate and Ashley. My sister suggested that I give one set to her dd. I may either do that or get her two barbies of her own to match the barbie car dd gave her.
My nephew of course, his gift is sitting on my table. So, he's done. He'll love the Hot Wheels toy box. I sure hope his free hot wheels coupon comes soon.
My dd...I think for sure, new shoes...she grows way too much and is almost as tall as I am at 7! Umm...a new Scooby Doo bookbag/duffel bag for all her upcoming sports. Another Ashanti cd since she got the latest one for her birthday. And a few more items I haven't discovered yet.
I really hope to have all my X-mas shopping done by mid Oct.
Today, I have to take dd to her doctor. I'm gonna swing by the Goodwill to see if they have anything, if not I am not afraid to walk out empty handed. Then I really do need to go through that dreaded closest. I talked about it yesterday, thought about it yesterday...but did nothing. I need to go through our clothes at the bottom of all this important crap!
Then I'm gonna make some jelly and roast the green chilies today. Maybe even make a few cup meals..we'll see...
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes on my anniversary. My sister said when we got married "Oh it'll never last", dh ask her last night if she still thought it wouldn't last she was mad at me back then for somthing, I forget? She says I'm too easy to get along with... is this a bad thing?:p
leasmom-
I totally understand what you mean about the closet issue. Mine has been the basement all summer and I've barely got a dent in it and our spare "junk" room. I just have not been real motivated here lately although I did bring 2 bags of "junk" out of the basement the other day. The thing is is the junk, I hate to put in my car to take to donate, it's just too tempting to throw away but then I think someone could use this stuff, so it just sits.... need to pack and take with me to donate.
I hope everyone is enjoying beautiful weather like we are here in Columbus, Ohio. We are supposed to have 3 more days of this I sure hope so.
btw- boggz, are you out there? Haven't heard from you this week. hope everythings going o.k.

My frugal thing today--taking the kids to the park after school. I'll stop for sodas somewhere but I'm taking a bag of chips from home for snacking. I'm trying to reward them every Friday with a trip somewhere to play and for poor Jarod who is sooooo lonely and bored without the sissies all week.
When the weather turns cooler or is wet we'll go to indoor activities like skating and bowling. Right now though it's still nice and we have a wonderful breeze today. I've invited a couple of friends to meet us there but even if they don't the kids will get some outdoors play time.
Other frugal thing--I made a pot of compost soup for dinner. Turns out this one is more of a chicken and rice soup and it's SO yummy. (I already taste tested it. ) I also made a loaf of bread using Jeannie's White Mountain bread recipe that she posted on WFD? It is wonderfully easy and smells terrific. I'm resisting tearing into now. It is the first loaf of bread I've ever successfully made wihtout a bread machine. I used my KitchenAid mixer (no bread machine currently) and may never buy another bread machine now. This was TOO easy!
Happy Friday all!
Jayne
