Vicki--I have the opposite problem--extremely high arches. My arches come up over the tops of many slip on shoes. I've worn thos orthotics too and hate them. ugh. After 2 surgeries on one foot and one on the other, a neuroma under toes on one, plantar fascitis and now neuropathy in BOTH feet I am here to tell you--treat your tootsies nice cause they're with you forever. I treated my feet terrible for years: high heels to work in, too tight shoes just because they were cute, etc. I'm paying for it now. Don't buy cheaply made shoes ever. EVER.

Toooo funny! Seriously though do be nice to your feet. A podiatrist once told me that the Birkenstock type sandals go against everything he learned in medical school BUT when told they feel good on my feet to go ahead and wear them then. If they feel good then do it. I do wear knock-offs of Birkenstocks since the real deal is pricey. So to clarify, don't buy cheaply MADE shoes--there are bargains out there on "cheap" shoes. :p ;-)

Vjumpstart,
I bought a pair of New Balance shoes about a year ago. They were the best investment I could have ever made. Even though my feet hurt everyday, I work on cement floor, I have bunions and probably other things, the shoes along with the orthotics have made my job a little more bearable. I can only imagine how my feet would feel if I didn't.
My foot doctor always gives us a coupon for a percentage off, when we need shoes. These are shoes that are going to last you for a very long time. Do not feel a bit bad that you made that investment, because if you had not, you would probably be investing in surgery later on.
EmmJean, would love to have your recipe, why don't you post it on the whats for dinner post?

Wow, finally got caught up on all the frugal posts since Fri. night.Tried a lot of the links and none would work or when did could not find your stories etc. Will keep trying.

I have had great luck the past two days on being frugal. I am in charge of several fundraisers/family events at dd school. One of which is the Santa Breakfast. We try to get a toy for every child. So I have been buying clearance etc. Yesterday went to Meijers and they had 90% off all their summer and clearance toys. I had 86 items for which I paid 22.14 it said the total ad savings was $202.69. Needless to say I also bought on a separate order things for my kids and nieces. DS will get a star wars lego for Christmas, it has been 1999 and paid 1.90 along with several other kits.

Then today we stoped at Walmart and they were marking down their clearance again so got a few more things. Examples: bug lanterns reg 6.98 were .25. A wooden red/white/blue welcome sign .25 (reg. 3.98), 3pack red gel pens .15, nak pac 1.00 (7.99 at ToysRUs) and others.

Now I am stocked up for birthday gifts and Christmas. Also this way we can give a few more gifts to the giving tree.

momofjems, There is no recipe for the meal cups. My DH used to work for Rhodes Bakery, so I have all there frozen dinner rolls in the freezer. I just let them thaw for about 2 hours in muffin pans, then pressed the dough up the sides of the pan. Then add diced chicken that I mixed with shredded cheese. Then baked for about 10 minutes. These are for my DH,DD,DS's lunches. You can use biscuit dough too. Or homemade dinner rolls. I used what I had at hand. I also have made chili cups too. With canned chili. And sliced cheese. Frugal for me since my DH got them for free.

Wow! You all have given me alot of ideas to think about. Vjumpstart-how is the insurance thing going? A friend of mine that works for a insurance company said to tell you to check around for private insurance. Another neighbor of ours has private insurance because her husband is self employed and for a family plan she only pays $200.00 a month. I don't know what all that covers but I've asked my friend to ask Jamie for more details. Will let you know when I hear more about it. It's all so confusing and it looks like the only one laughing all the way to the bank are the insurance companies.

Songberries, I was in no way offended by your reference to religion. I was raised Mormon.

All this talk about cooking makes me want to take the afternoon off and go home and bake:p

Hung up more clothes this morning so I'm way ahead on my laundry, will have more time this weekend to cook I hope.

Today is our wedding anniversary, will be going out to dinner at our favorite mexican restaurant

Lightbulb Hanging Clothes up to Dry

According to Lehman Bros. Catalog Company_

"Hanging your clothing in the sun does less damage to your clothes and the environment. You'll Save energy and up to $150.00 per year in electricity. (Electric clothes driers use 10 times the electricity of a washing machine).

Anna,
Congrads on your wedding anniversary! How many years has it been?
The chicken cups do sound tasty! Today is the perfect day to make a batch of cookies so I think that is what I will do. Make my master mix and one quick batch then will hide in the freezer so Dh does not eat them all!
This weekend is the start of Football season Go Browns! Anyway having some friends and family over on Sunday for Chili, I am actually hoping for a bit of cool weather....I know what am I thinking but I love fall! I want to start potty training ds so I suppose that will end up being frugal not having to buy diapers for a few months will save a little of course if I find on sale I will stock up for new baby. So wish me luck with the potty I am not expecting a miracle so will see how it goes as I hear boys sometimes dont start till there 3 we will see!
