Just want to post here so that I can keep receiving these great ideas! Now that dh is working again, still have to keep thinking frugally. You think you have a lot until the well runs dry....lol.
Thank you all for your wonderful hint, and Songberries, hope your dh and ds have as much fun working on the van(s) as we have looking at the pictures.

Well...I did this after going to get my $8 back

I bought a pack of tortillas-(12) for $1 and some cream cheese for .88 cents at Walmart. Then when I picked up dd she had this paper in her bookbag that said Harvest Sharing. It said they had 50% to 70% off of mostly restaurant/frozen foods: Hashbrowns, Hot pockets, taquitoes, burritoes, Meat Balls, Cookies, Steak Strips, Roasted Veggies, Chicken Fajita Meat, Food from Bennigans, Chili's, KFC, MCDonalds and more... I called and the guy said they were overstocked, so that's why they were selling these items at 50% to 70% off. So I'll be going there tomorrow and hopefully go back on Thursday as well.

Then I called about this free coupon for dd for one month free Tae Kwan Doe. When dd was 3 she was in karate and I got suckered into the 1 month free and then started paying for lessons. This time I told her that after the 4 sessions, that was it. I'm already going to be paying for cheerleading lessons, $25 a month. She also brought home a paper that had cheerleading lessons for $20 a month. Across the street is $25 a month, but I figured with gas included I would still be paying the $5, so I'm gonna stick to across the street. We can walk there!

Let ya know what I got tomorrow at this Harvest Sharing.

What I did today may or may not be considered frugal.

The kids have been dying to go to the county fair ($10 for me, $7.50 for the 2 oldest, the two youngest are young enough to get in free = $25.00 just to get in!) to try to win some goldfish ($2.00 a shot). Because of the MASSIVE amounts of rain we have gotten I thought we'd go to the pet store instead. For a small one gallon tank set (includes tank, food, air pump, and a plant), some rocks (gotta have them), some drops to take the chlorene (sp?) out of the tap water, and 4 fish (one for each kid at $.20/fish) it was only $28.11

I thought that since the chances of getting stuck in the mud at the fair was high (would have to pay for a tow truck to get our HUGE van out) and the younger kids might take several chances to win a fish, that what I paid was a good deal.

So...........we are now the proud owners of 4 "feeder fish" goldfish: Oscar, Big Bird, Barbie, and "I don't know yet" Love the name of the last one!

Leasmom - the Harvest Sharing sounds interesting.

Vjumpstart - sounds like you probable saved yourself time and money by not going to the fair! We had rain at our fair, in fact the power went out during the rodeo we went to, and it poured down rain. I've heard lots of states had rain at their fairs.

Vjumpstart....

I love the names of their fish!! My DS named his after race car drivers since he is a huge Nascar fan.

We just bought 4 ghost shrimp at WalMart ( 26 cents ea. ) they are the coolest creatures!! I had no idea that they shed their skin so that they can increase their size--I thought that maybe the other fish ate them.

We just realized that one of his black & white fish ( I think its some kind of Molly ??) has a big red bulging eye tonight.

Our next purchase is going to be a couple of frogs but it will be a while cause the darn things are expensive!!

I think you made the right decision!!

Nascar! I'm surprised my kids didn't think of that! We hardly ever miss a race. Our favorite driver is #6 Mark Martin. GO MARK! My 3yo ds can't say Mark Martin correctly, so it comes out Mark Markin'

Harvest Sharing!

I told my sister about it but she has no room. SHe still hasn't bought her deep freezer yet and times like these makes me miss mine. But, I do have room, though barely, but I'm willing to cook up some meats to fit the stuff in there-LOL! After all, doing Atkins I can eat meat at breakfast! I can't wait to see what they've got!

My sister has gotten more food from her landlord who drops it off to her occasionally but my sister never needs it and she hit Sams Club for the first time and stocked up! That and the Commissary, she really doesn't have any room.

Good Morning Ladies-

My frugalness last night was getting out winter clothes and washing & hanging on my inside clothes lines to dry since it is still raining here . Also still cleaning out my basement and getting rid of junk like baby bottles from my nephew who is now 4.
Made dinner at home. I never count that as frugal but we rarely eat out, maybe twice a year so that saves us oodles of money. Have been working on my budget and saving money out of each paycheck for those expenses that come up every 3 months, water bill, medications, doctor visits so that I'm not scrunching that month trying to pay the extras. I wish I'd figured this out along time ago. My checkbook will look a little weird but I'll know it's there for these expenses. We have a RX plan at work where we order our meds through our insurance and saves major money. I really wish our government would start a program like that for senior citizens or low income, there is no reason why they couldn't.

My neighbor has tomatos galore in his garden (I only had a few this year in mine) anyway he keeps bringing more and more over for me, trying to use them all up today I am making pizza for dinner and in lieu of sauce will just cut up tomatoes!. It is supposed to rain at some point this morning so I have a feeling we will be stuck inside. Will also be making play doh today, those are my frugal things for today.
Anna,
Sorry to hear in rained in Columbus all the holiday weekend, it was beautiful here except for Monday. We had a great cookout at my grandmas! It was perfect weather sunny not to hot nor to cold.

Lee-

Wished we have known that, it didn't look like that on the weather channel. We'd. have driven up your way.

Our tomatoes didn't do so well either but our neighbor's did and they brought us over a bag this weekend We do salads everyday almost so they didn't go to waste. We share our homemade "Hot Salsa" with them every 2 weeks when we make a new batch, they love it. dh makes it way too hot for me.
