THANK YOU for that link! I've been trying different ones all morning that wouldn't work. I wanted to list this in my freebis issue going out tonight but none worked. NOW I can list it--I'll tell everyone it's thanks to you!

Got a few last things to pick up today

Balloons...dd will have to blow them up herself, I could never blow up balloons. I told her she can blow up balloons because she's full of hot air-LOL!!!

I need some soda and some string to tie the balloons with. It's suppose to rain today...I really hope it doesn't rain before we get to the zoo. Let you know how it goes.

Nutrisse Hair Coloring

Eckerds had a sale by one get one free on the hair coloring I usually use plus had two coupons for $2.00 off so made out pretty good. Like to pick them up when they are on sale since I usually color my hair every couple of months.

Dd's birthday!

It didn't rain at all so that was good. My sister woke up sick and so was her dd but her son was fine. So, she came and brought the food. Then we surprised dd at the zoo. We walked around for about a 45 minutes-(that was the entire zoo we saw-it was so tiny but cute!)-and then I decided to wait until we went home to eat the cake because my sister and niece weren't feeling too good, the kids were tired and I had left her candle, the knife and Zoo paper plates I got at the Dollar store, and camera at home by mistake.

The lady told me there was a mix-up about the cake. They said someone told them I wasn't picking it up until tommorrow...my heart almost stopped. But, she said someone else told her to go pick it up today, so she had it. She added the little animal figurines and trees...it was already decorated so I put it in the car and we drove home.

Then we warmed up the delicious meal my sister had fixed: bbq ribs, baked beans, sausages, green beans and corn. It was delicious. Then we tried to light the candle but it wouldn't light, so we sang happy birthday and ate the cake. Then we let dd rip open her gifts. Everyone is tired...but dd was very happy.

What's funny is that I'm used to going broke for dd's birthday and Christmas, even though I am frugal nearly all year, those are the days that I just lose it. One year I spent $350 on gifts for dd, not including nearly $100 on pictures, just for dd to not play with them. So, this is the very first year that I actually was frugal for her birthday and gave her just enough gifts...not too much, not too much less... I spent a total of $60 to $65 for the cake, decorations, zoo admission, and gifts. It proves that it doesn't take a whole lot to please them. So, I am planning on doing the same thing for Christmas. I can curb my spending when it comes to dd. I am patting myself on the back!!!

My sister took one of my kittens home today. So, I am now down to 2 kittens and 1 mother cat-(of my cats, not the feral kittens. They are now safely in the animal shelter). I am happy about that.

It was a good birthday and probably Friday, I will have her pictures put into the photo place.

Leasmom - I'm so glad you had a good day for your daughter's birthday. That's great that you were able to spend less money than usual. It's so easy to want to give our kids lots of presents. That's to bad your sister and the kids weren't feeling well, but it was sure nice she brought the food anyway! I can't wait to see your pictures!

I was so surprised today to see so many entries, you all were quite busy this weekend. We had rain all weekend here, yesterday it absolutely just poured all day... so we were stuck at home. I did get dh to do a few "honey do" list things. He put up an extra clothes line in the basement for me, put up a tupperware lid container storage unit (bought a the thrift store for $1.99) and finally, took out of my basement a old pallet the previous owner had used to level the washing machine. We had moved it and made a cement platform years ago.

I bought one of those oven turbo things Sat. for $5.00. Sliced potatoes yesterday and attempted to make potato chips. They didn't take too good, they were kinda poofy and brown. I think I'll have to try to slice them thinner next time and maybe dip them in lemon juice so they don't turn brown?

Will post more frugal things a little later.

Anna

We stayed home yesterday. But today I have to take Momma to her heart doctor for a check up.
Great news DH starts his part time job at the V.A. Andministaions today. He is only allowed 25 hours a week because it is a work study program, but every little bit helps.
Both kids have colds now. Hopefully it will stay just colds.
