Well, I'm out of eggs and I have to bring a dessert
for our graduation on Thursday and today would be the only day I could go...I'm not really feeling like running out to the grocery store-(dead tired)-so I decided to make something that I already had in the house...I have a can of peaches and I have a pie crust...I also have some canned pumpkin pie mix as well...I could make that cause I have to make it for Halloween but I need this for Thursday.
So, decided to use the canned peaches, my pie crust, oatmeal, flour, sugar and spices to make a peach crunch pie...I'll make it either today or tomorrow so I will be ready for Thursday...I still need to get eggs, but I can do that Friday morning and make the pumpkin pie for dd and I...
One box of chocolate cake mix one can of pumpkin. Mix until smooth and bake according to cake mix directions.
For those of you who don't like pumpkin (I personally don't like pumpkin pie), don't fear. You can't even taste the pumpkin in this. It is really moist and yummy. You don't even need frosting. We usually just leave it as is or maybe put some powdered sugar on top. Enjoy!

Oooh, I made chimichangas for dinner, and they we really good! I made the torillas from scratch, used leftover pulled pork and grated cheese, then deep fried them and served them with some pork chile verde from the freezer. Mmm, they were yummy!
I took the kids over to the school tonight for discovery on wheels. They had all kinds of hands on things for the kids to do. We even got to go into a small blow up planitarium (held about 40 people) for a star show. We had a lot of fun.
V - the pumpkin cake sounds good. Does pumpkin just come in the big size can? Is that the one you use?

Hi I'm new to Family Corner but I think I'm going to like it. I think this message board will make me be more aware of what I'm doing to be frugal every day.
Today I took my lunch to work so that saved me quite a bit. I've read about eating out of your freezer or pantry well I've had to do that not for about 3 weeks because our grocery stores are on strick and my dh is union so I won't cross the line. It is starting to get a little hard. I still have meat in the freezer but stuff to go with it is slim. I guess I need to take a look at the recipes and see if I can "create" something with what I have left.;-)
Yesterday had to do the running for the store. Noting frugal thier. In Scouts we had cover dish do did save thier. Everyone filled up and still had a little lift. I'm takeing the cub's recipes and making a cook book.

Could you stop by a Farmer's Market? I'm sure they would have some good deals to lure people to come since the grocery strike is going on!
Got up this morning at 4:48...I just kept banging on that alarm clock...wouldn't be able to do that if I were working-LOL! I am trying to get used to being up and even doing stuff at 6 a.m. So, I worked on my blood pressures and warmed up leftovers for an unconventional breakfast and swept up the floor and cleaned out the cat litter.
I had read somewhere that you can substitute shredded paper for cat litter, so I can't get to the store until Friday and the cats-(now 3)-really needed the two cat litter pans changed, so I sat and shredded up some newspaper, which I have plenty of since I have the paper delivered for $6 a month, but I only read a few of the articles and use it primarily for sales papers and coupons, so I needed a use out of them...I did use the sunday paper for dd's birthday gift wrap and will be doing that again for X-mas, but other than that, I've been setting it out for the Recycling Truck...
So, I changed the litter and it only took me a few minutes to shred up enough for the two litter pans. I put some of their old litter on top...my cats are very confused-(LOL!)-one was looking like, what's this supposed to be? But, I think if I add a little more they would come to get used to it until I completely, If I choose, fade out the litter or just buy 1 dollar store bag and use to top the shredded paper, to give them the sense that, yes, this is my litter box...
So, happy about that...I made the Peach Crunch Pie for my Graduation on Thursday. I reused a plastic Ziploc bag to enclose it and freeze. It's ready to go, I just need to take it out of the Freezer Tonight and put it into the Fridge so it's raring to go Thursday morning...
I had took one of those cheap biscuits, used half for breakfast yesterday, and just stuck the can w/the rest of the biscuits up into the freezer. I unthawed those yesterday, and took some leftover steak and shredded it and added cheese and made mini calzones for dd's lunch. I also put some of the peach crunch pie in her lunchbox but she doesn't like mushy stuff, so I took it out and put some leftover pineapples in there instead-(from the bulk can that I had, sweetened, bagged and froze 2 months ago).
