Leasmom--if it's any consolation, my oldest dgd was lost BY THE SCHOOL on her first day of Kindergarten! The teacher put her on a bus after I had sent a note saying that I was picking her up the first day. I panicked big time when no one could find her. The assistanct principal got snotty with me and told me to calm down--I never liked that woman from that day forward. How dare she imply I shouldn't be upset--they had LOST my grandchild! They did finally find her on a bus, sitting with a little hispanic boy who didn't speak English and Alexis didn't hear her name being called. That should have been a tip-off to me that this school wasn't going to be the great example so many told us it would be. Long story, glad we're gone, lousy teachers. What made it interesting was the principal was our neighbor, lived right across the street from us.

I would not be happy with this school either. When DS walked home they always made him wait. One day I was held up and he decided to walk home with friends. School staff was upset and waited for my call to see if he was at home (which he was) from then on he was brought up by a staff member and if I was not out front they waited with him or left him in the office til I came. Another time the child next door was not there when parent went to school. The school staff was even driving the neighborhood looking for himl He was in the house with his cousins and did not hear us knocking or calling. Parent did not look in house (grandfathers) as he did not have key and cousins were not suppose to be there.

Jayne - also way to go on the warranty. My luck it would have been expired by one day.

Anna - Hopefully your next batch will be good. I am glad the seller worked with you. It is always good to wait and try to work out before giving a bad rating. I bought a flute and it turned out to need repairs. The seller refunded to cost of repairs. So there are some good ones out there!

Re: Thanks everyone...they did send home a calender

but the last two half days/no school aren't scheduled on the calender, they have popped these up on us.

DD brings home a weekly folder also besides a calendar of the dates. DS does not. However both of their calendars are posted on the internet and also on the marquee out front of the schools. So you might check to see if your DD's schools offer either of these.

Carol - thanks for the tip on the fat-free cream soup alternative.

Vjumpstart - hope you get your backpay of childsupport either in the lump sum or monthly and that he does not get out of it or disappear again.

Wow - I can't take some days off here as you really have to catch up!

Frugal for today was that when went for parent lunch with DD today I took my lunch instead of buying there. It was to cost $3.00 - $4.00 and from what I remembered last years was not worth it. She usually takes hers too as her's would be $1.75.

You know my youngest DD's teacher also sends a weekly folder home with her. But it is only sent home on Friday, if the school office sends a special memo home it does not get here until Friday!!! One week the school was closed on a Thursday, and she brought the memo home, in her envelope, on Friday. Luckily, I always check my calendar, and watch it closely. But, I know when I worked ouside the home, I was not a religious calendar checker. What about the parents, that need daycare!!???

Also, I must add my forgotten son story. He was in kindergarten at the time, and DD#2 was only 1 month old and I had scheduled a 1 month dr. appt. for her. The school had early dismissal that day, and they had what they call modified kindergarten(he went for a short amt of time also). Which I did not know at the time. had he not been getting out early, I would have been home on time. I became frantic, on the way home when I saw the school buses delivering kids, the buses were rather empty meaning they were kindergarten kids, so I knew then that DS, also had early dissmissal. But, anyway, I got home from the dr. and the phone rang, here it was DH's brother(he was our neighbor at the time). He had seen DS, sitting on the sidewalk, crying. So he picked him up and took him for pizza. I was upset, because, my thoughts were would have he gotten in a car with ANYONE? So, from then on I told the kids, if they ever get home, and I am not home, they are to go outback in the yard and play. But, I am a faithful, calendar watcher now, as our district does not "spring" early dissmissals. Thank god!!!

Frugal yesterday was: today is a co worker in my dh's dept. birthday. Gave her a Buckeye Necklace, a Dammit doll and a joke jar. Couldn't find any bags or wrapping paper that was birthday related, so called my friend across the street and ask if she had any birthday bags- she had hundreds!!! She saves them from her daughters birthday parties. Yay! She gave me one for free although I did offer to pay her. So saved me money, time and gas of having to run to the store at 7:30 last night. And of course, we saved money not having to go out and buy a gift.

Todays frugal will be the usual pretty much staying at home, tonight is library night with ds. I ended up having last week off as dh said I looked like I needed a rest so he took him. It was kind of nice getting some alone time.
I babysit a 2nd grader sometimes after he gets out of school, he brings home a daily folder but no one ever writes in it. Seems like a waste of paper. His 1st grade teacher did sometimes just saying if he did well that day but there was always something. Our city sends a calender out yearly that has all the school information in it also which is nice. Defintly frugal as I have not bought a calender in the 5yrs I have lived here.
Carol,
I have to admit I like to pop the bubbles from bubble wrap its like a stress releiver.
Leasmom,
Glad your enjoying a job thats always a good thing.
Anna,
Great gifts for your co-worker, thats one thing I dont miss about being in the corporate world all the b-days seems I was chipping in money for something every other day even though I wasnt always close to the co-worker. Then there was the birthday cake club. Have to laugh the last year I gave monthly of course the day they brought the cake in for my month was the day I went into labor with my son. Then in December there was the secret Santa geez now that I look back it was never ending.....

MKS-

Happy Birthday! Hope it goes well and you have a nice, sunshiny day!

Leighann-

Yes, I am with you on all this corp. stuff. We've had 2 weddings, a baby shower, a wedding shower, Boss's Day, and probably soon a housewarming party this year (one of the wedded couples (both work in our office) is buying a house. UGH! It goes on and on. We also have a Christmas card list where your supposed to mail everyone here at work a card, we have 65 employees! I finally cut that out a couple years back the postage alone was over $20.00 not including our own family and friends. Now I just pass cards out or put in their office mail box and our family and friends get Christmas postcards instead of the regular cards. For our company gift list this year, everyone will be getting homemade gifts. Dh is making Reindeer from wood that stand. A fun project for us and hopefully one that they will cherish as we did the one we got from a boss here several years ago.

Anna

Happy Birthday MKS.

Frugal is trying to get used to staying home and not going shopping every week. It is not easy. But it is getting easier. My free subscription to Family Fun started. I got the first one in the mail yesterday. And the other on too. But for the life of me I can not remember what the magazine is called. My kids love the Family Fun magazine. We plan to do some of the crafts out of it.

I'm making more bread again today. My ds and his friend each ate a loaf of bread in sandwiches after school the other day. That's a lot of bread! So, I need to make more to keep up!

I'll post a picture of my Christmas card later on today. I decided to stamp snowflakes on the envelopes, so they're in drying now. I need to make some tags with this set of stamps, then I'm going to let a friend borrow them for her Christmas cards.
