Sueanne,
Your right I meant no cooking for 2 days, I must have been dreaming about the 2 yrs! Some of the things I got at the garage sales yesterday I will be setting aside for ds to bring out on special occasions! I forgot to mention that.
Emma,
I think going to the Drive In is frugal if its like the ones here you get 2 movies for the price of one and the ticket is still cheaper than a regular movie theater plus you can bring your own drinks and snacks! We actually have 2 free tickets to the drive in but only because the last time we went the movie reel broke or something, then ds woke up from all the horns beeping so we decided to leave. They handed tickets on the way out. There has not been 2 movies together we want to see good thing there was no expiration date on the free tickets as it may be closing after this weekend till next year!
Leasmom,
What are chicken cup meals?

Spread bread dough or biscuit dough on the bottom and up the sides of a greased muffin tin. Then fill with whatever you like: pepperoni and cheese, ham and broccoli, etc. This is a great way to use up bits and pieces. Bake at 350 for about 15 min. Cool and freeze. Grab one and put in a sandwich bag. It will be thawed by lunch time."-Miranda
You can either use biscuit dough or bread dough. You can make chicken and broccoli, beef and cheese, pizza, whatever you desire. I am going to make mine with chicken and cheese and salsa and chicken for dd. I am going to pop it into a freezer bag and she's ready to go...
We just caught a few minutes of the third parade here, the Fiesta Parade after dropping the feral kittens off. It was located way out right smack next to the Waste Department-YUCK! You could smell it even inside the SHelter's building-gross!!!
Still have to go to the store to grab the eggs, the fruit cup, and maybe some cornstarch if possible. As soon as I can without dd seeing me, I'm gonna wrap up her gifts with the comic strips. I told her that was her wrapping paper and she was happy about it! So, I've got to do this again! One year, we took a paper bag and painted it and used glitter to decorate it. It was stiff but worked as wrapping paper. I told her that we had to leave it out and Santa Claus would use it during the night for one of her gifts...I'm gonna miss her believing in Santa Claus this year...of course she still believes that there's a TOE FAIRY-who takes your toe nails at night-(HER CREATION)-and the Tooth Fairy. I still have that.
Leasmom - I remember I made those once a long time ago. I put hamburger with tomatoe sauce and seasonings in it, then I put cheese on top. I took it to a pot luck, and everyone loved it!

I made them using some biscuit dough I bought. After cooking all day and driving feral kittens-(neighbor brought me another)-back and forth to the Shelter, I wasn't ready to make biscuit dough from scratch. But, I found 3 tubes of biscuits-(total of 30)-for $1 at the Grocery Warehouse. So, I made 6 pizza ones, 5 chicken and cheese, and 1 cheese. I used the leftover biscuits to make mini calzones and mini apple turnovers because dd has been eating everything all day!
I got all this at the Grocery Warehouse for $5.67:
1 carton of medium sized eggs-.89 cents
Pork Skins-.99 cents
Finely Grated Mozzarella cheese-$2
3 tubes of biscuits for $1
4 oz can of tomato sauce w/italian seasonings-.49 cents
1 kids sized bag of Lays chip-.30 cents
I even got dd a .25 cent pop outside of the Grocery Warehouse.
I've been busy all day. After dinner, I'm going to relax...oops, I still have clothes to wash and need to mop the floor...oh well...
Hit our Piggly Wiggly today where everything (except meat which is all gone, produce and tobacco) is 30% off. The shopping center where they're located is being torn down for a new Lowes Home Center. Oh boy is dh happy. Me too--those 45 minute drives to the nearest are a pain. This one will be less than a mile from us and will have an access road right off of ours so easy to get to as well!
Piggly Wiggly is actually moving to another area of the same center where they were located long ago so will re-open in January. Right now they are clearing out for the move. I picked up some fairly good bargains (mostly frozen items). I wanted some Tide but all of the liquid kind was gone. I used powder for a while since it has more loads for the money but it made me itch so I'm back to liquid. Dh went back later to get some baking soda for the pool and picked up Peter Pan reduced fat peanut butter (the ONLY kind I buy) for a great price. Can't believe I missed that one.
Leasomom those cups were recently posted on my OAMC list and they supposedly freeze well. I'm going to have to make some as soon as I recover from this week of cooking and freezing. I'm just too tired to take anything else on now. :p
Have a great Labor Day all and tell your dd happy birthday for me!

well we had a pretty frugal weekend. our local firemen had their anual fish fry so joe and i went. 2 kids aer at their dads..and my middle dd was with her grandma. they came to the fish fry too. we had ice cream, hot dogs and soda. plus played games and it was less than 10. also joes older brother jimmy came and we visited him for a while. we watched the pedal tractor pulls and then they had a street dance. it was nice to dance with joe and not have to worry about a sitter. we stayed there untill about 10 last night. then came home. we did go rent movies today, but thta was frugal too since they had a buy a 20 card and get 27 worth of rental. so i got oneof thoes. i still have about 18 left of my card.
i havent gotten my palm yet, its suposed to be here tues and i hope it is. i want to take it to the dr with me. just for keeping busy. im very nervous, and joe tells me to not worry hes gonna be right there..but i still get nervous. i dont want the surgery if i can help it.
so other than putting one of our extra cars up for sale..we have 2 full size trucks and 2 cars, not much else has been going on. hope everyone had a nice weekend.
ericka
Ericka - you have to share what you're doing on that palm pilot when you get it! I've been wanting one for quite a while. Maybe I'll put a bug in dh ear for Christmas for me!

I sure will tell dd you said happy birthday. She has been so excited she was driving me crazy, eating all day, jumping around...coming up with brilliant plans for her birthday-LOL!!!
Well, I cooked all day. Got several of those cup meals in the freezer. I took leftover chicken and nacho cheese sauce and made more, so dd is set for awhile-YIPPEE!!! I also separated all her sauces, veggies, and snacks into the 42 piece containers I got for $5. So, I won't be stressed out next week when dd carries her lunches.
Nothing else frugal...got a long day tomorrow but a fun one. Can't wait to take the pictures of dd's birthday and surprise her at the Zoo. She hasn't been to a zoo since she was very small-(where we lived in Tennessee the zoo was 2 hrs away). Can't wait to see her face when she opens her favorite...ASHANTI cd. She's gonna die! And all her other gifts. But, this birthday I think is going to be special because we get to spend it with family, something we hadn't been able to do for 3 yrs while we lived away from any family in Tennessee.
I'm tired...going to bed now...Good night, everyone!!!
One of our frugal things we did as a family is we got rid of our checking account. The bank was changing thier policies every month. And we were sick and tired of them. Plus they wouldn't deposit my DH paychecks into our account for 3 to 4 days, or cash for 2 to 3 days. For the first time in we were getting bounced checks. $34.00 a check. So now we withdrawal the money and buy money orders for .25.and Hve the peace of mind in knowing that they will not be returned.
This wouldn't have been Wachovia would it? :p In the south they're known as "WalK All Over Ya". I opened an account with them and deposited a check from our insurance company-USAA, a highly respected and well known company--yet Wachovia held it for 11 DAYS! As soon as they depositied it, I went back in and closed the account. We now do all bankin with USAA and a credit union.
Leasmom - Happy Birthday to your daughter! I hope you have fun today with her and your family.
I'm not sure what I'm doing frugal today. I do have some clothes to hang out.
