I woke up ill this morning--have what the dgks had (Stomach bug). HOWEVER it's still my middle dd's birthday and we've decided long ago that her birthdays are jinxed since she's rarely had a good one, I went to get her cake in Rocky Mount with her at a wonderful little bakery there. We shopped at Harris Teeter while we waited on the cake and found chicken breasts for .49/lb!! I wound up buying 11 packages--meant to get 10 but miscounted. :p The meat guy told us that once this overshipment is gone they will raise the price back to a $2.79/lb. I normally only buy boneless but for this price I was not walking away empty handed.

I just took a nap and ate a bite. I'm already regretting that part.

Jayne

I have had a houseful of kids today it went so smooth its scary. Two are gone for the day and the other 3 are sleeping like angels. The one thats really weird is the baby who just turned 6 months I put him in the "BIG" crib today and he is doing great. Slept terrible in pack and play half the time I ended up putting him in the swing. So very happy about that.

As for frugal today well have not done much but am cooking a chicken today so that may end up being frugal hope to feed us a couple of different meals. Today is the best I have felt in about 3 days. Jayne sorry to hear your not feeling well now. All the kids around here have been sick taking turns of course for the last 2 weeks. I knew it was only a matter of time before I was hit. Must share the best part of yesterday I finally felt the baby kick! Its so cool.
Great deal on the chicken! I never find deals that great.
Vj,
I hope you start getting that child support owed to you. Its so terrible how many fathers get away without paying. Probaly even some moms out there to.....
Janet,
Glad your surgery went off okay and your co-pay was only 15.00 thats great!

Tis the Season

Nagymom-

Hope your feeling better soon. Those bugs are starting to come around, we had 2 here in the front office sick with it Monday. My mil has been hanging out with dh's cousin who works in a day care facility, she's been complaining sore throat and plugged up in her only good ear (she's 75). Came home yesterday, she had called and said something was wrong with her TV, it wasn't making any sound, got over there and the Tv was so loud the windows were shaking. Her only good ear is completely plugged up, she's 90% deaf in the other ear and refuses to get a hearing aid! Anyways, hopefully she called the doctor to get antibiotics. She hasn't gotten her yearly flu shot yet.

Anna

Hello ladies,
Found a link to get a free 1 year subscription to Game Pro Magazine...........
http://www.gamespyarcade.com/subscribe/gamepro/

I decided to take my 2 new cats back to the lady I got them from. I can't afford shots, spay, neuter for them right now......so I guess that's frugal.

Jayne, good find on the chicken breast!!! Even if it does need to be deboned it is still a good deal!!!

Vjumpstart, I hope you get all your back child support, wouldn't that be like winning the lottery to get it all in one lump sum?

Janet, glad to hear you are doing good. Yes sometimes it is very frugal to carry insurance.!!

Songberries, I love the freebies too, I also keep the padded envelopes, but somehow they disappear. (the kids take them to pop the bubbles)

Lee, glad to hear you are feeling a bit better, and that your kids were all s today. Hopefully it is not the calm before teh storm!! At least if that is what it is you will be able to send them all home, except one.

Bettdev, thanks for teh link for the magazine, I already signed up for it, my DS will really enjoy that one!!! Sorry, to hear that you had to take your kitties back. I know I would be very upset if I had to get rid of my kitty. We found him under the trailer, the mom cat abandoned him, and we took him in and had to bottle feed him, for 2 weeks, before he learned to eat. So he is really special to us!!!

Well, still no frugal here, still have not hung wash outside, and as messy as this house is right now, I am not about to hang wet wash around it on top of the mess!!! Just, don't have time to hang it outside! But, I still keep checking in, I love to read everyone elses frugalness!!

Wow! Great steal/deal on the chicken breast Jayne! ~~~Hope you're feeling better soon.

Aw, Bettdev, sorry you had to give up your kitties. I hope you weren't too attached to them yet. It's hard to let go, cuz they are like our babies!

Frugal for me today was shopping loss leaders at Publix for "healthy foods":

1 pineapple $2.99
sweet potatoes .79/lb
cucumbers 3/$1
"premium" ?? tomatoes $1.29/lb (not too frugal but I love tomato sandwiches)

Also went to K-Mart to have prints made from our negatives since we found out the Kodak CD program does NOT run on Win95. They gave me the set of prints for FREE. Free is frugal! And they let me keep the CDs, so whenever I upgrade or buy a new computer I'll have the pics on CD, too.

Found 100% cotton misses tanks/tees for $4.00/ea on clearance.

Wal-Mart is opening its Super Center here on October 29th so they're having sales at the small store, which closes midnight the 28th, to clear the shelves of the stock they don't want to move to the new store. I found 1.1oz Nutmeg spice for $1 each. I expect/hope there will be more deals the closer it gets to the grand opening. Lots of empty shelves. The sales are unadvertised as near as I can tell.

God bless...

Hello, ladies!

I worked on the floor for the first time today! I was only there for 3 hrs and it was fast paced and interesting! I felt so proud of myself because I knew that pretty soon I would be employeed and that feels good!!!

Frugal today was...cooking breakfast at home, including coffee. Frugal was not having to pay for any lunch...I packed some ham-(no bread), cheese and a free pack of mayo from 7-Eleven I had gotten for dd's lunches not to long ago, and had a free pop cause my classmates gave me .60 cents for a soda so I didn't have to walk to my car to get it.

Frugal was bypassing the loaf of bread that is usually marked .99 cents for a 50 cent loaf of bread further in the back of the grocery store, coming home and opening two cans and boiling some noodles and whalah, dinner and leftovers will be placed in a container for my lunch tomorrow...

Oh, Songberries, I too recently reused two items that were sent to me...a bubble envelope and a box, both contained freebies. I did have to buy 1 pack of bubble envelopes, but it was only a $1. I have the Ornaments ready to exchange but I still need the extra money to ship...I will be sending them off either this week or next week...everytime I had the money, something else came up...

I have been happily reading the Second addition of the Tightwad Gazette, I need to find the rest...I am really enjoying reading the tips from Amy.

I found out that I can purchase a salvaged transmission from $80 to a little more...the question is, is it really the transmission??? I had it checked out by three machanic's who concluded that it was...but I am wondering lately if that is the case or if they're just saying that because I am a woman, I don't know...

But, we shall see...I'm going to do some research...

Leasmom - that's funny that your dd pops the bubble wrap in the envelopes. If we lived closer I'd give you some bubble wrap for her. My dh gets yards of the big bubble wrap from the vacuum units he installs.

I went to choir practice tonight and was chatting with one of the other ladies who works at Wal*Mart. She told me that they've been shipping some of their stock to other stores because they've got to much stuff. She said this weekend all the clearance stuff will be marked down to $1 and $2. She told me to call and talk to the assistant manager in layaway and ask if I bought things tonight and layed them away if I'd get the lower clearance price when I pick them up. So, I came home and called and he said yes. So, I went right down to Wal*Mart and bought a pair of slacks for dh and a nice knit shirt, both for Christmas, 3 or 4 shirts for 16 yr old ds, 3 shirts and a jacket for 20 yr old ds, 1 top for 5 yr old dd and 1 shirt for 8 yr old ds. I think it all came to around $60, so it will be fun to see how much I saved after this sale! Oh, when I went back to put it on layaway the girl said you can't layaway clearance, store policy. I told her that at 9pm I talked to the assistant manager in layaway and he told me that I could I could, so she let me!

Carol
