What Did You Do Frugal Today~June 2012

For encouragement in frugal ways--large and small--look no further. This is where we share helpful hints for stretching our money, saving time and making sure we don't waste resources.

Remember, "frugal" does not mean "don't spend money!" It means "be wise with what you spend!"

What Did YOU Do Frugal Today?

Anna

JOANNE - glad to see you join in. Hope the new meds work for your baby.

JEAN - Hi there. How's sis feeling?

ANNA - feel better.

Well I've done all I can do about Momma. I have searched the streets, informed the entire neighborhood, and today I went to the shelter just in case. Now I have to put it in God's hands and hope. I'm sure you all wish I would hush about Momma - but I miss her.

I stopped at the thrift store on the way home. I got 40 cards of all sorts, they are all lovely. Some have sentiments, some are blank - all for $1.20!
I also got a nice pair of Riders jeans (dark blue) for $1.50. Mine are all so old and faded - needed a nice pair.

Fed the squirrels and birds and cleaned the bird bath.
Filtered water. All meals from home. I will be making chicken noodle soup (homemade) for dinner. It's a cool day and great for soup.

I got a big banana box when visiting the Amish store for all my dry goods. Set on the floor the other day and Pooter LOVES it!!! She loves to get in there and go to sleep. Too cute. Guess I will be keeping it a while. Coogy like to poke thru the holes at her!

Going to start soup.
Talk to you later.

JoAnne, try vinegar for the smell, I used it while trianing all my dogs. The vinegar leaves after about 10 or 15 mins. I've got a nasty head ache so will comment later

Thanks Cau, that is my next move. It was wet right through the rug, that is why the smell won't leave. I have some newspaper on it to soak some of it up, but I definitely am going to use some vinegar, it's great for almost everything.

Hope your Momma cat finds her way home, Cheryl, and you sure don't bother me when you talk about your crew.

Hope those feeling crummy today, will get rid of those headaches.

Good evening all!!

Anna and Cau, hope your headaches go away. Nothing more annoying.

Connie, I don't have any other advice that would help them out. Being mad or exasperated sometimes just doesn't help.

Cheryl, you can talk about Momma's absence and how it hurts your heart as much as you want. I know how I searched for Sandy when she went missing.

We had the younger ones for "Bring Your Child to Work Day" today. These were all 4 year olds, except the boy who is 3. They all were open enough not to have to "cling" to grandparents, or in one case a parent. They had a ball. The foam plant made castles for the girls and a train for the boy (they made 10 gallon hats for the kids who were older and visited last month). They delivered mail, visited all the departments, did jumping jacks at one point, obviously went to the foam plant and the to mill, had pizza and watched veggie tales after the activities were over and until their parents/grandparents could take them home. And on top of it all, Doug gave them all a pay envelope with some money in it for their "work" for the day. It was really cute. We really enjoyed having them.

It is supposed to start raining any moment here. I pulled my veggie plants out from under the car port so they can get some of the rain. I am taking my sister's dog for walks tomorrow as she will be out of town. Good thing Bella likes me.

Ladies, better go for now and get some dinner (just the last of the ribs on a roll), and get the dishes done.

Take care all!! Norma

Thanks Joanne. Do you have a shop vac that you could use to suck up the moisture?

CAU - feel better!

LISA - Hope all is ok! Where you be gf???

I started the soup and the hoouse smelled great. I laid down on the love seat, covered up with a quilt - Pooter came up and curled up with me, Coogy was on the top of back cushion. I turned on The Waltons and promptly went to sleep. LOL
It sure was cozy.
Soup turned out great. Pot is soaking waiting on me.

It has been misting, windy and chilly all day. Got to 60. Feels like first of Oct. not June! LOL
Found out the historic neighborhood sales are tomorrow and Sunday. Not sure if I will go or not. There is always 1000's of people.

Guess I'm done for the evening. Have a great weekend.

JoAnne, try soaking the spot with vinegar then laying newspapers on top, a lot, then pour on the salt. Let it sit. The salt will pull up the liquid.

Anna and Cau I hope you both feel better soon.

Cheryl, I know how you feel about missing your kitty, I hope she comes home soon.
BTW, I see Lisa on FB and she got a new job, at the Goodwill. I think it's in a town over from hers. She started there is past Monday. So far I think she likes it!
