We have fixed our screen with a kit from Meards.
Frugal for me?Youngest had a friend over and then dh noticed the refirgator wasn't working.Sure enough after some checking its not working. So last night took what I could save and my g/f is letting me use her refrigtot/ and if we need to use her freezer too I can.Now today I have made 3 phone calls to the repair guy.Waiting to see if he can fix and we will see if its is fixable or not.Had my class and a quiz.Got 3 points out of 5 and now I have some lab work that I need to do.Aslo met with my tutor too.
Bye for now.
Mish
Ps you all are doing so great being frugal.Somehow I think I hurt my one toe on my foot.Blood was on just one sock and on my shoe.

Laurie, here is the link to the site. I'm sorry--meant to do that yesterday.
http://smilewinknod.blogspot.com/
She has a lot of cute craft and frugal ideas as well.
Quite possible I spend too much time on the computer. lol
Sue, thank you so much. Truly, if I could figure out a way, I would try to send you some stuff. It really has been a cool summer this year in most places. So odd. I hope that your frost holds off fora little longer. I wouldn't be surprised if it was early here, too. When we lived in NY, we planted a special type of early growing tomatoes, but still they didn't always ripen on time with the very short summers. I think they were called Early Birds? They do take a lot less time to ripen than normal tomatoes.
Anna, hugs to you, sweetie. I know how much your dogs mean to you. It will all work itself out. It sounds like your dh is needed where he's at. And I am so hungry right now I could just eat your candles...okay, maybe not.
Charlotte, the IT field does seem to be getting hard. I will be praying for you and that your dh finds a good job very soon.
Jean, how are you doing? Thinking of you!
Love your creative ideas, Denahowy! Hope your dd has a very Happy Birthday.
Ugh, Connie, that could have been a major disaster. Glad you feel better. Do you have any kind of filter for your water?
Glad you feel better, Amy!
Oh, Mish, I'm sorry about the fridge. What a pain. I hope you were able to save a lot. Cheese will do okay for a few days unrefrigerated. Sounds like you did great on your test!
Frugal today so far has been no a/c--yay! I made a quiche for dinner since the navy bean and bacon soup needs more time to cook. So, I guess that will be tomorrow's dinner. Made some easy snacks--spiced pecans and trail mixes. Dh's favorite things to take to work. Since he is always so busy, he usually eats those for lunch. Still need to make a salad and some breakfast cookies. Other than that, just enjoying the beautiful weather.
Take care dear friends, and have a blessed day!
Jamie.

Anna, if you haven't returned the Bee Balm yet, maybe you can plant it in a container and keep it. It can't invade anything if you keep it in a pot, off the ground a bit.

Frugal today was sharing with a neighbor. I gave her a container of the Chicken Fajita Soup I made the other night, since I had a lot of it and she likes it, and she had bought a bunch of melon and made a big fruit salad, so she gave me a container of that. Definitely a win-win

I don't usually buy Frito-Lay products since my neighbor's DH works for Utz, but Pepsi was on sale 5 cases for $10 at Shop Rite AND they gave you a 22-pack of little chip bags free with that. It was a great deal all around. I told the kids that the chips are for school lunch and that's that. Then I hid the pack of chips. I will take them out when I pack lunches--only 6 more days until they are back to school

ANNA - Hope the meds work for Windi. Prayers you're dh's job hangs in there.

Mish - hope you can fix the frig.

Many more I was going to respond to - but I had a brain fart!!! Can't remember anything.

Frugal today - laundered comforter and line dried. Had to go pay health insur. (ugh), and stopped by gun shop to pick up a check (they sold one of our guns!)
Ran past Aldi to see if they had cauliflower cheap. I want to can some garden medley with many of our veggies, but wanted to add the cauliflower. They had eggs marked .49 doz.! I got several and am in process of freezing them for this winter.
Picked opal basil and have it hanging to dry.
Worked in the yard a couple hours. There's so much to do, as I didn't do much when it was so hot. Getting ready for fall.
Picked veggies.
A friend dropped by, and brought a huge stack of decorator xmas gift boxes. She didn't want! Yep, I took 'em. Don't understand people. She will probably go out and buy more this year. DUH. Even if I don't use till next year, I'll have them.
No AC - it absolutely beautiful out. All meals from home. Dinner was veggie night - no meat.
Need to go wrap change. My jar is full!

Have a wonderful evening.

Barbzy

I did decide to keep it, we're going to plant it at the end of our driveway... there is nothing out there but grass and if it gets too out of control I can always mow it over with the lawn mower. And good job on the neighbor exchange... I love doing that with my neighbors. Yesterday I took down one of my container lettuces to the elderly neighbor who gave me the dirt, I had my first lettuce tonight.. it still isn't real tall but I couldn't resist trying it out, it was excellant!

Jamie

You are always so uplifting I love reading your post and thank you for your support.

Cheryl

I did laundry outside today too and thank you as well for your support. It just seems like its been back to back things with the car, Windi and now dh's job although I can't remember if I posted this or not but he talked to his big boss and he said technicians were not included in this volunteer layoff thing, only production workers. Still doesn't mean they won't go out of business, you can never tell.

Frugal today has been the AC was off over 24 hours till dh got home tonight and we have had it on about 3 hours and getting ready to turn it back off and open the windows. The evening sun was making it hot and stuffy in here.

Well gang I'm off for now... you all are the greatest!

Anna

Anna, sending you hugs. It is a scary time right now with layoffs and all. I hear you on the insurance. DD1 is on our health insurance right now because she is a full-time student. But, she will be finished in December. She has a few health issues and takes 4 prescriptions. I am so worried that she won't be able to even get insurance because she has a pre-existing condition. We will help her out all we can, but there isn't a whole lot of room in the budget for that. I hope all goes well for you.

We have been able to have the AC off for about a week now. It's wonderful. I have my fingers crossed that we're done with it for this year. At least for the next 10 days out, it's supposed to be in the 70's.

There were so many more I wanted to respond to, but my head just emptied.

I had my pre-surgery appointment today. I am all set to go next Tuesday. I'm really nervous about the surgery, but definitely looking forward to relief. Barb & Lisa, I hope you both are able to find relief as well.

Dinner tonight will be burgers on the grill, cucumber salad and watermelon. I need to do a very thorough inventory and meal plan tonight as I will only go to the store once more before the surgery. I can't trust DH to go when I'm recuperating. He will definitely NOT stick to the list.

The a/c has been off here too which is good I need something else to help pay for all gas being used taking the kids to doctor appointments in Dayton, ick! At least the insurance covers them.

I'm going to do another load of laundry tomorrow and hang it out. But not at 9 am when its 48 out LOL.

I was talking to a customer today about doing all we can to save money they have been working on digging out an old broken patio all summer and are now ready to start laying the foot stones.

Talking about sticking to a grocery list Kathy made me remember my sister in SC's phone call on Monday as she had gotten back from the grocery and saved $105 with coupons as they were doubling $.75 coupons and she spent $100. They are well stocked up now. She called me because her husband didn't "get it" and wasn't excited nor impressed with the savings.

Good evening all!!

Anna, the feds passed a new law earlier this year that the employer has to make payments on COBRA to the tune of 65% of the payment. Call the hr dept at your husband's job and ask about that. And stop worrying, you can't allow yourself to get sick over this. You can plan ahead, but remember to leave the driving to God. Our company was having fits thinking that it was an "Obama" thing. we had just lost an employee too, so it was really worrisome to management.

My COBRA was $600 per month while I was unemployed.

Well, I have the eggs and the macaroni ready to be put together for the macaroni salad I am making for tomorrow's luncheon. I understand the boss has contracted with one of the local luncheon places to cook 6 lbs. of bacon, and deliver it for our sandwiches too.

They did not deliver the "monthly" statements today, so I was a little at odds by the end of the day. But tomorrow will be challenging. I plan to get everything done, but we all know about the best laid plans...however, I am neither man nor mouse, so I might have a better chance. LOL

Kathy, I am glad your appointment went well.

Jamie, sorry the soup wasn't quite done.

Mish, after my Sunday experience with my freezer, I feel for you, with a family, and your fridge. I hope it can be fixed without too much cost.

Anna, your candles, so sound like they would smell good enough to eat.

Ladies, got to go, and get that salad put together, and get the dinner dishes done. I caved and just heated up the rest of the fried rice from last night.

Barb, good job on hidign the chips!! Also, that was nice that you and your neighbor were able to both benefit from each other's "extras".

Take care all!! Norma

I am feeling better but am sooooo tired. No we don't fliter our water. We have a RO system in the kitchen but it has been a nightmare to upkeep. We have need to hook it back up. I think the new city water system will be done within a month.

Kathy with our oldest son, we were able to keep him on our insurance because of preexcisting condition. I think there is a law about that. I have written our insurance but haven't heard a thing of course.

There is nothing worse than a major appliance dying on you. I have been doing homework for the Dave Ramsey class we are taking. No wonder I am so depressed tonight. Dd was turned down for SSI. This is after they told us they would reinstate her when she turned 17........ Time for a lawyer. Another thing for me to do. I am overwhelmed, tired and not feeling good at all tonight.

Good news is I had a huge Avon order, for me anyway. I need to deliver it in the morning. I am looking at a radio advertising spot too for reiki. I need more clients.
