Ericka, tough love honey. I've had to stand firm with my son too, he still doesn't always like it but he has learned quite a few things along the way. Shame on his gf's parents if they bring him into their home! Hang in there.

Roberta....I buy alot of canned beans too but I have been thinking of going back to dried beans. The canned beans have so much sodium added and they are very hard even after cooking for a long time. I rinse them in a strainer and hate all the soapy stuff that comes out of the canned beans.

I have even planted the dried beans and got delicious string beans. Let them go to seed to start all over.

Good evening. Everyone sure sounds busy. I bet you are all glad to get an extra day off from work!

Lisa - congrats on Rachels job. Sounds like a good one.

I buy my kidney beans and chili beans at Aldi. I get a box of 12 cans for a little over 6.00. I think they are .59 a can there.

Frugal today. Didn't do a lot. Went out to feed the critters this AM and I got a squirrel to eat from my hand. He ate corn, then I came in and got a cookie, and he ate that too. He wasn't the least bit scared. I was thrilled!!!!
I did go to meet my old boss for lunch today. Grindstone Charlie's. I had never been there (I don't eat out much!). I ordered, he did, then I ordered a to-go to bring home for dh. Boss wouldn't let me pay my share. He said leave tip. So I had lunch, with some leftover which I had for dinner, and dh saved his for dinner. So great food and no cost!
Watered everything. Been looking like rain, but nothing. They are saying rain Sat. & Sun. It figures. We aren't doing anything special for 4th. May go to farmer's market Sat. just to see what they have.

I did pick a couple yellow squash and another cuke today!

Hope you all enjoy your 3 day weekend!!

Wow I miss one day and I learned so much in the last 5 pages I read.
But Anna so glad that windi tummy is doing a lot better.
I have spent about 130.00 between all 3 places.Dh has been working on the basement so I am hoping the floor will get a lot closer to being done.Right now I am trying to save money where I can.My younget has been working on her school book, learning how to ride a bike and working on her reading. My g/f jusy lost her job and we have been to the library 2 days in a row for freee programs that they have.Afterwards we both were reading the newspaper and doing some reading of our own.My youngest even got a sundaue and her sisters finsiehed off what she didn;t want to have.LOL!!
No big plans for the 4 of july as of yet.I need to go as we have swim pratcie here in a bit.

Hello everyone! You have been busy. I haven't been up too much since I came down with strep throat on Monday. I missed two days of work this week. At least, it was a quiet week with 2 attorneys on vacation so I didn't get too far behind. I'm still feeling pretty lousy even after 2 days of antibiotics.

Anna, I'm so glad Windi is doing better. How is David? Has dr. found new meds that work better for him? I think it's wonderful that you have taken Maddi under your wing. I would have loved to have someone like that when I was a little girl.

Lisa, sending up prayers that you are able to get the food stamps. You work so hard to give your girls a good life.

Sueanne, I have to admit I got a bit of a giggle about figs in soup. Sorry to say that I don't like figs. It's the texture. DH loves them, though! He would love to have a fig tree, but it's too cold to grow them here.

Lauri, DH and I used to go to the Poconos every year when we first got married. We noticed the last couple of times that it was just getting too crowded. Now, it's just too far away-lol!

Mish, it sounds like you and your girls are busy as usual. Don't you just love those free summer programs.

Jean, I have been thinking about you. I hope you are doing well.

Frugal here has just been the usual. Mostly, I have been trying really hard not to waste any food. I have gotten better with the menu plan and cooking from what I have on hand.

I am off to make a cup of tea and read for a while. I get to sleep in tomorrow since I don't have to go to work. Hopefully, I'll start feeling better.

Kathy, I'm so sorry you had to deal with strep, and in the summer! I do hope you're feeling better and better every day.

Thank you, everyone, for your well wishes for the food assistance. I really do hope that I can get approved, it will be such a help.

Tonight I made supper from what we had at home, kind of a clean out the fridge night. Washed up the dishes, Alyssa and I cleaned out the inside of the van (de-cluttered and washed the windows) then we took a nice walk around the neighborhood, saw home improvements since our horrible storm on May 8th. We like to look at houses, get ideas about what we want to do to ours.

I'm going to go sit on the front porch with a glass of lemonade and call my guy, last I heard he was driving back from Ohio!

Hope you all have a peaceful night.
Lisa

Connie---I am working on a patchwork project. I am trying to somewhat duplicate curtains for my bedroom that will somewhat match the bed cover I amde. I made a patchwork bedcover. Not a quilt or anything. It is anything from perfect, but I love it.
Ericka----Wow! It is so tough when you get news like that from your kids. I ditto Lisa!
Kathy---Where did you used to live? And so sorry to hear of the strep throat.
Lisa---Enjoy your lemonade!
Not much going on here. I did run out to the post office today and ran to the grocery store for milk. I picked upo some paper plates for dd. They are actually for Maddox. They are those plates shaped liked animals. There were coupons on the display so I got $1 off each pack. Paid $1 per package. Not bad. Other than that!
Have a great night.

Good Evening Everyone

Yes, thank God we continue to see improvements with Windi although as Crochet2 noted, not so good house etiquette, LOL! She snuck in my craft room and did #2 again this afternoon. Maddy was playing on the computer and watching TV.. I was taking a nap and she snuck off. But healthy bowels I'll take any time and will hold off on the scolding for awhile.. I have hard wood floors so it's not that hard to clean up.

We spent the evening on the front porch with Neal and Mary, very pleasant evening and I was happy to get dh out there instead of playing on the computer, that's twice this week I've dragged him out on the porch LOL!

Well I better get off here, I still have coupons to cut out for tommorows shopping trip.. I am not looking forward to it with it being the the first of the month, lots more people out there shopping.

Kathi

David is doing better with the new medicine, it has really calmed him down so that he doesn't get upset so easily. And there has been stress, they have laid off 4 people at his job since Friday and one guy quit, some shuffling around of job duties and they will have a new guy in their dept. on Monday (he's been with the company several years but never worked in dh's area) so he'll have to keep a watch that this guy is going by the books. Dh is a "Go By The Books" kind of guy and Git R Done! and has no patience for people who are goofing off.

Anna
